This book is of the same author who wrote "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," which I read last summer and adored. The Ya-Ya characters return in "Little Altars Everywhere," however the book is a compilation of short stories rather than one whole story. Despite this matter, Altars is still very engaging! It's just as well written as the first one, and the scenes just have so much life to them.

What's unique about Altars is that each chapter, which is a different story from the last, is told from the perspective of a different character, and it's actually written like they would talk - strong Southern accents and everything! I had a hard time picking up on this at first, taking the accented words as spelling mistakes, but now I appreciate how true to the characters Wells is writing.

Pick up this book, you won't be disappointed!
