100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
I always buy this Aida Cloth from Michael's and Walmart. You get a good amount of cloth for the price, and Michael's has a 40% Off Coupon I use once a month. I love how many different colors you can get. I love the black, but it is hard to see the holes for your needle, so I put a white towel on my lap when I am stitching so you can see them easier. I also find that the Oatmeal, Red, and Green cloth is softer and so I iron the cloth prior to stitching as it stiffens it up and you can iron it all throughout your project as soon as it starts getting soft again. Or, of course, you can use your hoop to keep it stretched and stiff, but I rarely use a hoop. Laziness a bit I guess.
This fabric makes a perfect base for all of your cross stitch projects. Aida cloth is an open-weave, even-weave fabric used for cross-stitch embroidery. It has a natural mesh that facilitates cross-stitching and enough stiffness that the crafter doesn't even need to use an embroidery hoop!
If you have never cross stitched, this is the main component you would need. This cloth is what 99% of Cross Stitching is done on
