This was just OK. I read so many great reviews for it on various websites, but I was somewhat disappointed when I got it home.
I had been looking for something to cover my redness, and also lighten up the look of my foundations (I'm extremely pale in the winter).
I tried using this in many ways, first alone over primer, but it seemed to not stick well and ended up looking scaly. Someone suggested mixing it with a primer but then it didn't cover any redness at all. I mixed a bit with a foundation that was a tad too dark also, but it just turned it an ashy color.
The value is pretty good, it was $40 at Sephora, and a tiny bit would would definitely go a long way if it works well for you! However I seem to have picky, weird skin so this one went back.
Like a lot of people out there, I have combination skin, with an oily T-zone and reddish areas to my complexion. I particularly dislike, but partake in an every day battle with the funny little red areas on the wing tips of my nose.
Too much concealer and your pasty face, or it's just sitting there in your pores, or in the creases of your nose ( which I just recently learned are called the "wing tips" area of the nose ) become patchy looking with product. It is a never ending quest for the ultimate product to help deal with this area of my complexion! Drives me nuts....but do love products!!
So...I am trying LORAC's Oil-Free Neutralizer in my battle to have smooth/even coloured wing tips! So far, it's been an interesting experience to say the least. This is a liquid product in a glass bottle with a small pump that seems to squirt out way to much product. So learning to get just the right amount has been a challenge all on it's own! Once I do, it's one of those products that is practically dry on your fingers before you apply it to the area you need it. Once you do apply it, work fast with it, get it blended in.
You have to work fast with this stuff, and use just the right amount. Otherwise you fun the risk of looking "ghoulish" and pasty grey in areas where you have applied it. Again, another product that once it's on, it's not moving or coming off w/o make up remover. Use moisturiser under it, or no matter what you do you will never get it to sit smooth on your skin.
Once it's on, it does help hide and neutralize the red areas, that I can attest to. But man!! Is it difficult to get just the right amount out of the bottle onto your finger. I struggle with this every time....however, I shall over come.
Who can use this product??...well....I am not a make up expert but I can't see, even with the right application method, anyone with darker skin tones being able to use this. It's a liquid, but it drys almost instantly when applied to the skin, and it becomes very flat, and very dry. It's almost a greyish colour all by it's self before you apply the rest of your make up over it. I am not sure how anyone with olive skin right on up to darker skin tones could benefit from this?....but I stand corrected if not the case.
So far I like it....so far it is helping to neutralize those reddish areas, and it last me all day. It doesn't cause any more oil or shine to appear, but then it doesn't stop it either. It does help colour correct though, and that's what it is designed to do.
This product goes under foundation to reduce redness and/or even out skin tone. I tried this under my Bare Minerals for some on camera work and was amazed at how it made my skin look. Even Alex commented on it. Not only did it help keep my oily skin under control but I couldn't get over the flawless coverage.
It only comes in one color which is kind of yellowy in the bottle but it doesn't leave any color residue on your skin at all, it just evens everything out beautifully. My skin also had a silky finish, which was really nice. It's a little pricy for $34 ($30 US) but for the results, it's definitely worth every penny!
