This stuff is amazing! I have this and YSL lip stain, and I really think this one is the drugstore dupe for that. great formula, no strong artificial smell and really cute packaging!
Just picked up a new stain in Berry Persistent, as I had to toss the one I had at the end of last winter. The colour is just so lovely! It isn't too 'in your face', but delivers enough of a punch for me to manipulate it. It can get pricey, but luckily there are sales on these quite often. I haven't tried the expensive one that this is supposed to dupe, but at this price point, I'm pretty happy with these.
I bought this in a rush and thought it was just another lip gloss. Oops! Best mistake I ever made. Unlike some glosses that have a weird smell, this one does not. It goes on smooth and easy even on my full lips and it lasts. I have worn this out many times and have not had to go an re-apply after eating. An excellent buy hands down and lots of really nice colours!
The commercial caught my eye!
PROS:
- long lasting
- peronally, I like the colours as I'm a big fuschia and red fan
- great price point
CONS:
- let's start that I have thicker lips...perhaps for those with thinner lips, they may have experienced less uneven spread as I did
- when applying, it has a very uneven spread, meaning that when I try to brush my lips with a thing layer, it stains so quickly that certain areas stain darker than others. The issue with this is when you try to compensate on the lighter areas, they end up staining darker than the original dark areas, and so on. Basically, it is very difficult to to achieve an even stain and gloss
- the pigments are unlike the YSL one. YSL glosses have a great pigment to it. This gloss tends to...I don't know, fade into another colour than the original application. Not sure if it is due to the post-stain or oxidations.
Unfortunately, disappointed at the quality, and I do not beliee it is the same formula or similar product than the YSL Rouge Vernis. I would not buy again, but if it works for you, great.
When I bought this product I didn't pay attention that it was a lip stain. I noticed the color was still there hours after I had applied it. The stain is a little darker than the color itself. I bought this in the color Pink Resistance. The color is not bright. It's a pretty thick formula but I like it. It keeps my lips hydrated. It provided a shiny look.
I wasn't sure what to expect from these. I initially thought that they'd apply like a normal gloss, the gloss would wear away after and hour or so and leave behind stained lips. Sounds good enough?
But no. These are totally different than that, in the best way! They do apply like a lip gloss- well, the texture is different, but we'll get back to that in a few. Once on, the pigment (the 'stain' part) seems like sinks into your lips, leaving the gloss on the surface. Sounds odd I know, but when you see the transfer (like on a glass or whatnot) it looks clear, making me think the colour adheres to your lips.
So, I mentioned texture. These are quite wet feeling, with a thin consistency. They apply on the sheer side, but a few passes builds up the colour while still being comfortable on. They are slightly tacky, but less so than an average gloss, and they really do wear for hours. I really love how long these retain both colour and gloss. Defiantly worth trying!
I'm loving this lip stain! Its got great pigment and is really shiny. The quality is very good so you don't end up looking like you're wearing costume makeup, which I find some stains give. The feeling is very slick on your lips, not sticky at all, and both the gloss and the colour lasts a long time. I have Infinite Fuschia and it's a really deep pink that I adore. My friend has Coral Tattoo which is a bold coral-y orange, and looks amazing on her darker skin. Once i've got my summer tan rockin i'm definitely picking that one up for myself!
This is by far my go to lip gloss/stain as of late.
I love how this perform, the stain lasts a very long time on the lips but the gloss does as well. The deeper shades are the real stunners since they are so pigmented but the lighter shades are nice as well for more casual wear.
The texture is interesting, it isn't like any gloss I've tried before. It isn't sticky to itself but it sticks on the lips, I'd say it's like a very thick oil. When you apply it though it's watery like a gel it's the dry down that locks itself onto your lips.
The gloss isn't a glass like shine but it is shiny like you are wearing a gloss. The plus side is that the glossiness stays for a long time too, through eating and drinking like a pro.
If you want a long wearing stain with a nice glossy look that is very low maintenance try these out, they go on sale often.
This product is brand new and the first product I ever bought because I saw someone famous looking great and I went and found it (Jessica Chastain at the Golden Globes - google it).
The applicator is paddle shaped and works just great for even coverage and colour on the lip.
It is a very good and long wearing stain. I prefer to re-apply another gloss or balm over top for the shine as I do not find the shine lasts a long time.
It should be noted that this is one of those stains where the colour is lighter that it looks in the tube, so take your time in the store and use the testers on the wrist or top of the had until you decide which is best for you. I copied Ms. Chastain and went straight for the 'Berry Persistant', it just looked so good on her!
This is the first drugstore lip stain that I have been able to stand behind EVER. At a third of a cost of the brand that I use currently (s*il@), I will be making fewer trips to the mall this year ;)
I think we are going to be seeing this on the best lists for 2013.
