100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
I'm 51 and wanted a pop of color in my beautiful newly transitioned salt and pepper hair. I haven't colored in over a year and was nervous of staining my new silver. I want simple strands, towards the front on my cute choppy bob, I'm not wanting to look like Katy Perry. My L'Oreal Chalk did not come with any applicator sponge and I heard they just absorbed the product anyway. I simply placed a plastic bag in the bathroom sink, poured the product in a dollar store foam bowl, and with a gloved hand starting "pinching" at my desired strands, starting at my ends and working up. Get a pack of inexpensive combs, they will get trashed. The product is liquid and messy so I was ready by standing over the sink. Gently comb through the small strands, starting at the ends. Unlike the directions, I left the product on for about 3 minutes and then lightly blow dried. A spritz of hair spray followed by a quick flat iron and viola! Simply pick up the plastic bag and march everything right to the garbage can. The hubs loves it, I had young girls on the NYC subway tell me how cool my hair is. The chalked strands are rightfully a bit stiff but no problem, nor did any color come off on my pillow.
Shade: Sweet Sixteen Pink
The L’Oreal Chair Chalk is a temporary, wash-out colour that’s meant to last between 2-10 washes (I was definitely on the higher end of this…more on that later) and can be used on all hair types. What makes this chalk interesting is that it’s a liquid formula that dries to a chalk finish…kind of like a liquid foundation that dries to a powder finish.
I was really impressed with how pink the chalk actually turned out on my hair. I was afraid I’d end up with just a faded whisper of colour but nope…it was pink! One thing to note is that this hair chalk is very drying so I’d recommend using some hair oil or leave in conditioner to keep your hair from looking and feeling like straw.
A great thing about this chalk is that once it’s dry it doesn’t transfer AT ALL. My white pillowcases remained white throughout my pink hair phase.
