I was recently sent the sample packages of L'Oreal's Collagen Filler Lip to test and share with friends. The first thing I noticed was that it was a dual ended product, therefore you are actually getting two products in one. On one end of the tube, there is a lip contouring cream which is supposed to help smooth out fine lines/wrinkles around the lips. The anti-feathering formula promises to "redefine the lip line in order to prep for lipstick application". I personally saw a change in the way my lips looked after I contoured them with the cream. My lips seemed to stand out more than usual and I could see some sort of definition, sort of like the effect you get when you apply a neautral shade of lipliner. However, I do not have any fine lines around my lip area, so I could not tell whether the product helped reduce or smooth out this problem.
On the opposite end of the tube, there is a plumpling serum/cream with Hyaluronic Micro-Spheres which is supposed to help hydrate your lips and smooth them out. My lips were very dry the first time I applied the serum and in no way did it help hydrate my lips. In fact, it made them appear drier. However, I tried a different approach the second time around. First I applied a lip balm to moisturize my dry lips and only after did I apply the plumping serum. This worked wonders and has made me fall in love with this product! The plumping serum also contains silica, which helps smooth out your lips and provides an excellent base for applying your lipstick or gloss. I would consider this product more of a lip primer, but it did also plump my lips. I liked the fact that it did not make my lips sting, as many lip plumpers are known to do. I also appreciated the natural plumped look it gave my lips and I loved its matte appearance. A lot of lip plumpers have a glossy finish to them, but this did not. I also found my lipstick lasting longer during the day and it looked so smooth as well.
If I was not sent this product to test, I might not have purchased it on my own, simply because it is rather expensive ($25.00 CAD). However, now that I've tried it, it is something worth investing in and I've noticed that you do not need apply a lot of the product in order to give you the desired effect. Therefore, a little will go a long way.
I received this product as a part of the product review club...I received boxes to share with friends/family.
I have always liked my lips. They are full, with a well defined cupid's bow. Because of this, I did not have high expectations for this product, and it was not one I would buy in store.
First I used step one on the outside of my lips. I was pleasantly surprised when just after that step, I could notice a difference in the way my mouth looked. Being 27, I don't have noticeable wrinkles, but Step 1 made my mouth look very smooth.
I was also happy with the results of Step 2, applied on to my lips. As mentioned, I already have full lips, but this product gave me the "I've just been making out for an hour" kind of lips. It enhanced my already full lips by making them very kissable looking.
The product is very easy to apply and works well as a lip primer. As I already have full lips, I don't know that I would buy it for $20 in store, but I am hoping mine will last me a while (especially if I don't use it everyday). This would be totally worth it, however, for someone who has thinner lips, and for women who are aging and find themselves with more wrinkles and thinning lips. I will probably find myself buying this product regularly in 15-20 years!!
On New Year's Eve, when I was putting on my makeup, I put two coats of this on my lips, and my friends definitely noticed a difference! One friend even asked if I was wearing and was impressed with how it looked!
I received a couple packages of this product today. I gave my mom and my mother-in-law a package. My my and mother-in-law had much thinner lips and they did notice a major difference. Me, on the other hand, I had full lips to begin so the difference was noticeable but not drastic. My mother and mother-in-law are in the early 60s so their lips are thinner now. They would use it again and recommend it.
I received a few of these lip fillers to test and shared them with my friends. It seems that for most of us, this had the same effect. It did give us a slightly fuller look, but keep in mind we had full looking lips to begin with. I believe this product would be good for those with smaller lips who need the plump, but you would definitely need to add your lip stick or lip gloss that you usually put on.
