Would rather keep my grey
Not overly impressed with this product. I have dark blonde hair but my grey is starting to really show. I used this but it started to show my grey after only a few washes
Great for touch ups especially when you are not quite ready for a full colouring.
As far as application, Root Rescue is easy, and the applicator works well if you slightly squeeze the bottle however, I found that it needed to be left on longer than the stated 10 minutes and still did not cover the greys that are right on my part, the colour did not match my colour (despite it being a loreal colour) well so I am glad I tried to work it through all of my hair, but there is not enough to do so. Maybe if I had shorter hair it would not be so bad. In conclusion, I think for an extra few dollars I would just use my regular dye than touch up the roots, it gives a fresher look anyway by colouring it all
I have very light colored blonde hair and so I chose the light blonde Root Rescue Kit. I found that the applicator was very easy to use and the whole process was seamless, including the short 10 minutes you have to wait which I thought was great! The results on the other hand were not the greatest. My hair loses some of the lightness as it gets closer to my next color appointment as well as my dirty blonde roots coming through. In the past I have had issues with box hair color making my hair slightly redish in color and so I always had to buy ashy blondes and now I have my hair proffessionally colored... this product did that exact same thing to my roots! It actually forced me to go to the salon earlier as it looked almost worse than my natural roots coming through. It was lighter than my roots but like I mentioned above, it had a redish undertone so it was so far off my light blonde hue. I would not use this product again but I would recommend them coming out with different tones of the color for people whos undertones come out easily when they color. I wish I would have taken a picture but I am back to all blonde now. Sorry!
I usually love L'oreal and as much as i hate putting a product down, i feel that i have to always stay honest in the products i test. I used the root rescue and i didnt see much improvement in anything..sadly but true. I even noticed that it didnt even cover some of my gray ..totally dissapointed..having gray hair, 1 or 100 is just terrible for me. On the up side, it was very easy to apply, the instruction were easy as 1-2-3. Love that it didnt take me 15 minutes to figure out how to blend and apply. thank-you for reading my feedback. My best regards
Firstly, I think the colour is generic enough to cover most types of dark brown hair. I do think that not enough product is given, (thus the low rating on the price of the product) since people with longer roots or thicker hair will not get sufficient coverage with the amount provided. Further, I left it in longer than the recommended time as my roots are almost black while the rest of my hair is dark brown and for me personally, it did not lighten my roots sufficiently to create a seamless transition between roots and the bottom of my hair. While I do not feel like my hair has become dryer, I definitely do not detect any enhancement in the condition of my hair, despite its built-in conditioning. While this is the first root touch up product I have ever used, as I usually redo my whole head when I redye my hair, it has not wowed me nor has it made me decide to switch over and use root touch ups in the future. It just does not have anything exceptional about the quality, for example there is no added shine or multidimension to the colour which while it is not advertised as such a product, it is what I am looking for in a hair dye, whether it be for all of my hair or solely for my roots. Lastly, the brush in my opinion was nothing new or innovative, and was a little small in that it took much longer to cover my whole head as the ones that I usually use have wider brush heads.
I was very dissapointed in this product.I requested a number 8 to match medium blond which was suggested to match up to the nutresse color I usually dye my hair with so I expected it would match. The set up was very easy I will say that and they have a spot on the back of the box to punch out a perforation to keep your bottle upright that was different and I thought that was a great touch. You just add your mix to the other bottle shake until well blended then attach the comb attachment.I applied it no problem, the comb attachment worked perfectly spread evenly and just the right amount. It suggested 10 minutes and 15 minutes if you have lots of grey hair.So I opted for 15 minutes as I have a fair amount of grey. After washing out(and most hair dyes always have a shampoo/or conditioner in the box this did not)it said to shampoo.I shampooed but my hair felt really rough so I also used conditioner(I think they should mention to condition as well) I combed my hair out and noticed right away the roots are red! There is still many grey hairs as well.I waited for it to completely dry and the roots do not match my previous color and there is still visible grey hairs. I have used Loreal products before and have always had great results. But this I have to be honest was a big disappointment.I will have to redye my hair so its all matching as the red tone is very noticeable on the roots.I would blame myself for picking this color BUT this was the color suggested on the box to match the Nutresse color that I normally dye with. I wont be buying this product again but Loreal you have a wonderful idea! The packaging is great and convenient! But you need to manage it so that it covers grey/leave the product in longer perhaps?Or have written on the package not to use for grey coverage because you have on your package that it is 100% Grey coverage.I am under 50% gray so I am not completely grey. You also need to balance it so the roots do not go red.Thank you for the opportunity to try this product and to give you my honest opinion.Brenda Brown
I was really looking forward to reviewing this. My grey hairs were becoming more noticeable along my part, and I could see some grey hairs along the sides of my face when I put my hair in a ponytail. I have dark brown hair, which means grey hairs STAND OUT. The packaging is fairly straight forward, however, I would have liked to have seen brief directions printed on the outside of the box - just so I had an idea of what was to come. Mixing the product is easy, and there is no real strong smell of ammonia like there is with some hair colour products. This looked promising. Applying the product was a bit tricky. I was trying to keep the colour right at my roots, so that my uber trendy ombre colour wasn't affected. Also, it's easy when you first start to apply it, but when you try to move your part around to get the rest of your roots, it becomes a big mess. I ended up squeezing the product onto the crown of my head and rubbing it into my roots with my fingers to ensure it applied evenly. I was pleased there was just enough product, I hate wasting product when I do a full head home colour (when my hair was short.) I left it on for the suggested 15 minutes as the box suggested: "for stubborn greys". My scalp tingled and burned a little. Rinsing out wasn't a problem, but I was still concerned the colour would run into the lighter parts of my ombre colour. I went to bed and reserved judgement until I had spent a day with my new roots. Here I am. I think the Dark Brown actually lightened my roots! My virgin root hair growth is now an auburn-brown-redish shade, noticeable in daylight. I can still see some "stubborn greys", but now they're joined by this auburn colouring. Also, it's taken the shine away from the crown of my head, my root area looks ashen almost. Overall 4/10 - easy to apply and use, but the colour is NOT dark brown, and it does not 100% cover the greys. I really had high hopes for this and wanted it to be the HG of home hair colour. Unfortunately not for me. I've made an appointment to see my hair stylist in 2 weeks - we have to wait for this current Root Rescue colour to wash out a little.
It was not difficult to use. However, I still had to get my husband to help me apply the product as I he would have a better view of the top of my head. The color matching was what I desired so I was happy with that. The length of time needed was good too as I did not need to leave it on as long as other colouring products. I am very happy with the final look of my hair after using this product. Compared to other root targeted products, I liked this one as the instructions seemed more straight forward to me and it did not require me to leave the product on as long. I also like the color matching of this root product. It did a pretty good job to matching my hair colour. I would recommend this product to someone who wants a quick application and is unsure of their colour matching.
