Looks great when you first apply, becomes horrible

I purchased this in brown from Shoppers. This mascara seemed to give me a nice, non clumpy voluminous look when I first applied it. I applied it to clean, curled lashes. It quickly became apparent that it doesn't hold a curl and looked terrible after it dried. It also smudged easily probably due to the balminess of the product. I will not repurchase.
