82% OF CHICKS DIG IT
I had a coupon to get one of these for free, but I believe they retail for approx. $11. The units have an on/off button and no option to adjust the amount of soap that is dispensed. It gives way too much soap with each squirt and goes off on it's own for no reason. I can be in the other room and hear it go off. At first I thought maybe it was low on batteries, but even after changing them out it still goes off, wasting more soap. On the plus side, you are supposed to continue buying the soap containers, but I was able to break into it and refill it with my own hand or dish soap.
I've been using these for about 2 years, I have 1 in both bathrooms and in the kitchen. I really liked them in the beginning , they seemed to work very well , it was nice not to have a messy gooey soap bar to deal with. Over time I started to notice some issues. The refills are pricey at $5. Soft soap refills are about the same size and go on sale for $1. They can be filled with other soap but its a hit and miss kind of thing. I think Lysol should have made them refillable and provide larger containers of soap so you could refill them cheaply.
There has also been an issue with 'run on' sometimes the dispenser keeps going after you've finished using it and you find a huge gooey mess on the counter.
Got this as part of a free rebate so I didn't pay anything for it. BUT I personally would not pay the $10-12 for it. I rather get a generic one for more money ($30 to $50) that allowes me to re-fill with the handsoap of my choice. Don't get me wrong, I love the scent of the soap that comes with the dispenser. But would rather not have the extra packaging everytime. I personally find thre's too much soap with each pump. I wish that you can adjusts the quanitity.
I got this for free with a mail in rebate program they did awhile back.
The only pro about this machine is in the kitchen when my hands are really messy I don't have to touch anything to get soap.
I think I got a defective machine because this thing dispenses 2-3 times every time I use it! I tried cleaning the sensor, I tried changing the battery, nothing worked. Due to it dispensing so much it wastes a lot of soap. Even if it did work properly I find it dispenses too much in one "pump" so I have to fill it often if I use it regularly. I originally had it in the bathroom but got tired of refilling it so often since it wasted so much soap so I moved it into the kitchen for when I need to wash my hands after touching raw meat. This is it's only redeeming factor.
In general I think it's pretty gimmicky, going to pick up one of those foaming pump hand soaps for my bathroom.
I have been using this product for a few months now and i love the concept of it but that is about it..
the soap itself does not work very well. I have mine in the kitchen and i find i have to wash my hands several times for the soap to work..
I have only had it dispense soap when i didn't want it to a few times, But it is out of the way.
Pros
~ Soap smells great & lathers well.
~ Unit dispenses soap evenly each time.
~ Easy for young children to use. (my son is five)
~ Had my kids washing their hands more, however the novelty wore off over time.
Cons
~ PRICE!!! $14.98 for the unit plus one refill. To me, that is a high price to pay for hand soap.
~ PRICE!!! $4.98 for each refill thereafter. (refills are 251ml.)
~ Just another gimmick that takes batteries! Cannot comment on battery life as my batteries have yet to run out.
~ No colour options! Only comes in white. My decor both bathroom & kitchen is stainless & black.
~ Look! I don't find it to be that pleasing to the eye. Plastic-y & cheap looking.
~ No option to refill the bottle with your own choice of soap. Meaning you HAVE to buy Lysol's refills. (or do you? See below for a nifty trick)
~ Finally here is my opinion on usefulness... When I wash my hands and I'm sure you'll all agree with me here... I turn on the faucet, pump soap onto my hands, wash my hands and turn off the faucet. I never return to touch the soap pump again. Meaning any germs I picked up off the soap pump would have "in theory" been washed away by the hand washing process. So wouldn't our money be better spent on a hands free FAUCET? Makes more sense doesn't it. ;)
Final Thought
All in all, I would not purchase this product again. Nor would I suggest it to others. Just another pricey gimmick to add to the junk pile. I'll stick with my soap pump which is much more pleasing to the eye and just as functional. Though I must say my kids still think it's a pretty neat idea.
Now, the refill secret.
I searched around because I was sure someone would have come up with a refill solution. I found it on Youtube. Thx to whomever made the video. Also I found my slim tip bottle at Dollarama, in the kitchen utensils isle. Who can argue with spending a buck.
