...AAAND the quest for the perfect mascara continues!!!
I really don't know why I keep disappointing myself with these super expensive, high-end mascaras; all I ever get is major disappointment! Sorry to say girls, this is another.
M.A.C. False Lashes Mascara promises:
"Intensely inky, this lightweight, innovative mousse-like formula creates the illusion of lash extensions. Saturates lashes in the deepest, darkest, richest black imaginable with each stroke of the unique double-lush brush."
I'm going to give you the DL. First, the bottle is appealing, sort of genie-bottle like and sleek. The brush leaves something to be desired. Nothing fancy here. Remember those old-school brushed before the new breed of flexible plastic bristled brushes? This is one of those retro designs, not too fat, not too thin...and it tapers to a nice cone shape which is great for getting the tiny lashes on the inside corners of the eyes. The formula does seem to dry quickly, so get those coats on quick; despite many people being able to layer and layer and layer throughout the day without that dreaded spider leg effect, how'd ya'll do it?! Cuz every time I tried to reapply this mascara after the original coat(s) have dried, it is INSTANT clumpy and spidery.
The formula does seem lighter than most, so its not terribly heavy. It doesn't seem to flake, which is nice because I am plagued by flaky mascaras and I despise that! Ok now for the effect: this mascara did nothing to increase volume but it did give a tiny bit of length. Lashes are separated a little too much for my liking, and the formula didn't hold my eyelash curl for as long as I would have liked it to, only a few hours. This formula is NOT waterproof and you do NOT want to get caught tearing up in it or in a rainstorm because it will be running down your face in seconds. It is VERY black! It removes easily (perhaps a little too easily) with just water.
In my opinion, this mascara was NOT worth it, even if it were half the price. I am tempted perhaps to try the others in the M.A.C. lineup, but not until the bitterness of being disappointed with yet ANOTHER expensive mascara wears off some!
