I don't really like using this as a base for my eyeshadow, but I like the color a lot. Sometimes I use it by itself. My beef is that this paint pot creases on me like crazy at the corner of my eyes. I don't understand why this happens? I think it's because it dries really fast. I have to blend it out after an hour when I get to work. It's kind of annoying. I put it on and find that when I try to blend my e/s it bundles up into clumps and looks like I have a disease on my eyelids!
Needed a primer and the cosmetician at The Bay - Pickering showed me this product. I couldn't believe my eyes when she did a demo with a bright purple on the back of her hand. Without the paint pot, it was a washed out dull purple, with the paint pot, the colour was vivid and came to life!
I have only one of these, and I wish I had more. I always find MAC products to be a tad expensive, but it's worth it for this! The paint pots are awesome for blending colours together. I have one in the shade 'Indianwood' and I use it all the time. I definitely recommend these!
The painterly paint pot helps eye-shadow stay on longer without creasing. Great for the work day to evening.
I love all the colors that are available in the paint pots, but the way the paint pots dried out... No bueno!! I use this product as a base for my eyeshadow and I love it when it's creamy and goes on smoothly but when you have a dried out paint pot it makes it hard to work with. I found that if you smooth the paint out with your fingers while still in the pot then close it tightly and store upside down its as good as new! Not sure why but it works! Overall this is a pretty good makeup product! Works well as a primer on lips too!
This is my first mac paint pot in the colour - Bare Study. I admit at first I did not know exactly how to use it. Then I began to apply this on the inner corners of my eyes, and half of my inner eyelid, and blended it with a darker colour on the outer eyelid as a base for eyeshadow application. It really brought out the colour of my eyeshadow that I would apply on top of it. You can also use as an all over base for the eyelid/inner corners. I would say it is almost comparable to an eyeshadow primer like UD's, but with less staying power. Would not last all day on oily lids like UD's, but a little longer than half a day, which is not bad!
Love the Paint Pots! I have the Rubenesque (gold/peachy). The paint pots leave a great matte look. A nice cream or skin colour would provide a perfect primer for another eyeshadow. For me, I just use the tinted/coloured paint pots as the show itself. Easy to apply - I just the tip of my finger and apply it onto the lid. It would be great for a smoky eye in any colours because it blends well. Its matte, blends well, creates a great smokey eye, and lasts all day without creases! This product is $21.00 (CAN), but it lasts forever!
I honestly don't know what I would do without my paint pot in Bare Study. I love the texture and feel of it on my skin, and the pigmentation is perfection. Not only is it an incredible shadow (which is also very good for highlighting), it also works great as a primer. When used as the latter my shadows come out with even more of a pop and a little sparkle to it too.
I cant love these for the colour, all the colour painpots I have cannot replace a colour for me, the texture is finish is simply to weird. However, I cannot imagine my makeup routine without them! best primers ever. Period.
