I was introduced to MAC Studio Fix this year by my younger sister. She has always sworn by MAC Cosmetics, and now I know why. This has become my favourite make-up product of the year, as it offers good coverage, and can be worn sheer or medium/full coverage. It camouflages minor blemishes and skin discolourations well, and has a lasting powder-like finish. It is worth every penny to me, as my Studio Fix replaces the need for concealer. My morning make-up routine is simple: moisturizer, Studio Fix, eyeliner, a touch of blush, a swipe of lip balm, and a touch of lipstain before I am ready to go.
Love this foundation. Other foundations have come and gone, but M.A.C. Studio Fix has been a permanent fixture in my makeup bag for years. It keeps oil in check, camouflages imperfections, evens out skin tone, and still looks natural. Compared to other medium-to-full coverage foundations I have tried, this one doesn't dull my complexion at all, simply makes it look better!
It's a powder, and comes with its own sponge, but I apply it with a full M.A.C. face brush and find that the brush application produces nicer results than the sponge. It goes on a little lighter. With the sponge, it can look a bit heavy and highlight dry areas.
The price tag is a bit steep, but it lasts for a looonnnggg time and the quality makes it worth it.
I use this powder on a daily basis. I don't use foundation because I don't like to stress my skin and get my pores clogged. So I use this after moisturizer and I'm good to go. Studio Fix is a powder so coverage isn't as great as a foundation's. However, for a powder, it provides excellent coverage while allowing my skin to breathe. As for lasting power, Studio Fix is pretty decent. I can go about 4-6 hours without retouching. MAC's shades are also varied and diverse so it was easy to find my perfect shade. I have never broken out or had any adverse reactions to Studio Fix. Also I don't use the sponge/puff that MAC provides in the compact. It is good for the first few uses but I stop using it after about 5 or 6 uses because of possible germ contamination. I use Studio Fix with a powder brush. Overall, it's a staple in my daily morning routine.
This stuff is amazing! It's great for when you're on the go and you don't have the time to do much makeup at all!
So, Let me begin this review by saying I usually buy my foundation at department stores. I wanted to switch because my current brand was running low and I didn't really like the flaky appearance on my face after I applied it. I would usually have to add some kind of moisturizer to my face after putting on the foundation to smooth it out. Even then, It seemed a bit streaky. So, on my birthday I decide to go to M.A.C and see what they had. First of all, the help and advice they offered was based soley upon my skin type. I had been using creme to powder foundation before and was told that that was probably not the best one for my skin. So she brushed on a powder foundation (Studio Fix) that seemed like an eraser to my small blemishes even with the lightest application. She made up half of my face and let me look at it in the mirror. I was sold! My face looked absolutely flawless! On top of all of that, when I went out into the real world later that day, I was complimented by several different people on how I have such great skin with a warm glow. I would definitely recommend just going to the M.A.C. counter just for a consultation even if you don't need or want the makeup. Their knowledge of skin helped me out the most.
Studio Fix was my first MAC product years ago... I used it for a couple of years until I realized how horrible it was for my skin!
One thing I could never figure out was why my foundation was always changing color on me as the day went on. MAC can give you a perfect color match at first with its amazing selection, but once it starts oxidizing with your sweat, you'll go orange! I also found that it tended to worsen my acne over time.
I would definitely skip using Studio Fix if you have any breakout issues or sweat a lot. That being said, I do think the coverage is very good and price is reasonable.
So my friend and I were in MAC checking out their cosmetics.... I really needed a face powder, but (in my very naive mind) I thought, "hey its face powder! i don't need MAC face powder, I already have several of their foundations, getting a regular drugstore brand should be okay" .... however my shopping buddy tried the shades on me until she found one that matched, and basically twisted my arm into buying it...
.... and i can't thank her enough!!! Boy was I wrong!! This powder covers so beautifully, I'm actually neglecting my MAC foundations because I just don't need them anymore! It completely evens out my skintone, and covers even tiny old pimple shades. It doesn't look cakey, or thick at all. It looks very natural without being too natural (hey if we wanted our "natural" skin, we wouldn't even wear this powder!), and flawless without being too "porcelein". I am brown, and no matter how much I match other brands to my skin, I either look a tad bit ash-ish (if the colour is lighter) or orange (if the colour is darker) ... with this powder i simply look like me. I have dry skin, but this powder doesn't dry me out like others do either.
This is a bit pricey, then again everything MAC is... however its very worth it, and I know I will definately buy it again... and again and again :) I highly recommend this to anyone who wants the coverage without the hassle of liquid foundation.
I LOVE this powder. It sits on my sensitive skin so well and actually makes my skin look flawless, not leathery like many others do. It also will stay on all day long, and look great all day. They have shades for EVERY skin tone and fit me perfectly into my own. It will seriously make your skin look amazing. The cost is a little high, but I think it's worth every penny for such impeccable coverage.
I love this powder! It covers everything and it makes my skin feel sooooooo smooth! I keep touching my face. Besides that, it lasts all day! Since it's pretty expensive, so far I'm still using my old L'Oreal stuff (still good stuff) until it runs out, using these only on nights out. I put my makeup on at around 7 in the morning and I went out around 10pm at night and it was still there as nice as it had appeared in the morning. :)
I LOVE this foundation powder. My mom has used this for as long as I can remember, and recently I decided to spring for it myself. After using it for a while, I can definitely see why people who use it, swear by it. It provides flawless coverage without a doubt. My skin looks glowing and beautiful, and it covers all my little imperfections perfectly. I have gotten SO many compliments on my skin since I have been using it. People say I look great, but they can’t even pinpoint what I’ve been doing differently because it certainly does not look like I am wearing a ton of make-up … it is very natural looking which is probably my favourite part!
I bought mine at the Bay in the Eaton Centre and was kind of put off when I asked for help and the girl absently (or so it looked to me) said you are this colour, applied it to my skin and said see? Perfect. I thought she was just trying to get me out of there, but honestly, its because she really did know what she was going. She could not have picked a more perfect colour. There are sooo many shades, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one to match your skin tone.
It cost $35 and I thought that was kind of a lot for me, but given the quality, and the fact that I have been told it will last forever, I am 100% sold and will DEFINITELY be buying another compact when this one runs out.
A friend of mine is a make-up artist and she LOVES their skinfinishes so I think I am going to try one of those next. I am now officially a MAC girl :)
