I didn't love this. It wasn't cheap, the results were not as pronounced as I was hoping, and the Infrared faded into a gingery orange that was unsightly.
Maybe it just isn't good for brown hair? But I would not use it again.
I normally don't use the coloured manic panic, but they do offer a product called virgin snow which I use when I go super blonde for the summer, this product keeps my blondes nice and light and eliminates the brassy tones which can often appear on blonde hair. Love it!
I love the brilliant colours Manic Panic makes, it's too bad they couldn't find a way to make them a little more permanent!
I like that they are non damaging, you can continuously use them and not suffer too much damage (aside from the original bleach/lightening).
A helpful hint, apply heat while its in your hair for a more intense colour. Also, wash your hair as infrequently as possible and always in cold water. ICE COLD if you can handle it. It will prevent the colour from bleeding out.
This brand is affordable, high-quality, vegan, and non-damaging. I used Manic Panic throughout my high school career and each time the color lasted well over a month and conditioned my hair. Each application was breathtakingly beautiful and I still have a box full of every colour they make.
This is a review for Manic Panic Raven, no other colour.
This formula must have changed in the last couple of months because I have never had such a hard time with this colour before and I've used it about 4-5 times. I always follow the instructions, buy the pre-lightening kit, wash hair, dry hair, slather it on, wait 30 min, apply heat...but nothing I did worked.
So here's the story. The night before I used Raven, I pre-lightened my hair as per the instructions. The following day I follow the instructions and apply the dye. After about 30 min and some heat to my head... I check to see if anything is happening. I do a strand test and the colour has taken... so just to be safe I leave it for another 30 min. After the longest shower of my life to get this colour out I proceed to blow dry and my hair is fire truck red. I'm panicking (haha) because I'm leaving in an hour, so luckily I had half a pot of this stuff left over and I go at it again... 30 min on the head with some heat, wash it out and... GREEN?! My freakin hair was forest green. Well this just sucks...
I go off on my business come home and buy a box of black/blue PERMANENT hair dye. My hair is finally a shade of black that I'm happy with, all this trouble for Cosplaying. Well it doesn't end there...
Now remember the permanent hair dye I used? Well the next time I went to wash my hair...it all washed out and I go back to having a green head of hair. Which later turns into grey (like old lady grey). After 3 months of dealing with this and trying to contact Manic Panic to figure out what happen (who, btw, have shitty customer service and blamed me for the whole fiasco) I finally decided to get my hair professionally done. Trying to get this manic panic out of my hair baffled all the colourist at the salon I was at because it just wouldn't come out. After 4 hours, my hair turning lime green and $500 later... I looked normal again. HOWEVER I have this gross band of a dark spot that wont take colour or darken or even lighten and no colourist can fix it.
Thanks manic panic for ruining my hair... don't buy Raven!!!
My son and I both are HUGE fans of Manic Panic hair dye. It doesnt show up in our town very often, but when it does, Facebook lights up with people spreading the word as our town loves crazy hair colour. I love how long the colour lasts(up to 2 months) and how vivid the colours are. Right now, my son has a head of purple hair, and mine is red...fun!
It may not last as long as the boring browns you get in the box but this dye is amazing! It comes in a huge selection of colors, is not expensive, smells better, it's easy on your hair and instead of your hair feeling dead after using color from a box it feels soft. And the best part? If your hair doesn't need a full jar of dye you can just put the lid back on and store it for when you need to either do a touch up as your roots show or completely dye your hair again for full color
Great for temporary color splash on bleached hair. I own cotton candyand hot hot pink colours. Works best if you use tin foil or foil wraps. Use on hair after you shampoo, NO CONDITIONER! I also left the pasteon longer and blow dried the foils before rinsing out. Use gloves because it stains your skin and clothes.
