I received a sample of Marcelle BB Cream in my April’s GlossyBox, but it sells for $22.95 on their web site. Marcells’s web site says that their BB Cream has 8 in 1 skin care benefits that does it all for you instantly. It’s a tinted moisturizer that can be used as a makeup base. It is suppose to give you an even epidermis and well-hydrated, flawless complexion all in one cream. It is also suppose to unify your complexion and reduce the appearance of blemishes. You can buy this BB Cream in two shades, but I feel like any of the BB Creams on the markets today should offer us more then just two. I didn’t care for the Marcelle BB Cream at all. I found it left my face looking and feeling oily and it felt heavy on. It also didn’t give me very good coverage and made me look like it was caked on my face. I feel you can get a much better BB Cream made by other company’s for a lot less money that do a much better job then this one does. I wouldn’t recommend Marcelle BB Cream to anyone.
I was really disappointed in this BB cream that it did not work out for me and I see everyone else had such positive experiences with it that shows you everyone's skin is very different!I received a sample of this in my April glossy box and was eager to see if I would like this one or the Garniers BB cream better. The Garnier BB cream worked out so much better for me.This one feels very greasy when applying and I can really feel the product on my face. Also the pigmented color really shows on my face and I did not use very much.I cannot find on my sample product what shade I received so perhaps I received one that is to dark for my skin I have very pale skin and this shade just stands out.I really love the idea of BB creams I have always used a tinted moisturizer in the past. However for me the Garnier one just works best.
I actually tried this cream because i got a free full sized one free threw facebook. Ever since then i have not stopped using it. I even take it everywhere i go and let all my friends and family try it out. I used it alone as a tinted moisturizer (which saves me time in the morning) and it made me look refreshed and glowing. the smooth texture was not oil or cakey on my skin and it blended in very easily. Its Hypo-allergenic and perfume free which i love because i sometimes tend to break out from creams that have a tint in them. Awesome new product. If you have not tried it go and try it!
Marcelle BB Cream is AMAZING! I constantly struggle with redness and blotchiness and as soon as I put the BB cream on my face it smooths out the colour of my skin! Not only do I love how the cream cover but I have noticed that my skin is less oily at the end of the day, especially on my forehead! I love how it keeps my make up fresher looking and how I don't break out at all!! I am so happy I was able to try this product!! I have told my friends and family about this awesome product and I hope to continue to use it!
I have never heard of BB Cream before.
I have received Marcelle BB cream as a prize on facebook.
This is supposed to be an 8 in 1 cream
A tinted moisturizer and make the skin looks more even.
I LOVE it!
I used it under my moisturizer. And i've received a bunch of compliments on my skin. No need for foundation. My skin tone looked even, even my lines weren't showing as much,
There is 2 different tints offered and the price is like really cheap 23.00$!!
I can't live without it anymore and i'm not using my expensive foundation anymore!
I absolutely LOVE this product!
I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it evened out my skin tone. It provides moderate coverage for imperfections and now on most days, I totally ditch my foundation! I've had a few friends try it and now they're using it too. It blends into your skin so well. This is such an amazing product and I love it, love it, love it!
Yes, Marcelle came up with the first Canadian-made BB Cream formulated specially for Canadian women in pharmacies as well as mass retail stores!
If you don't know what is a BB Cream - I'll admit it, despite seeing these all over the blogosphere, I was confused before being finally able to try one for myself - well, "BB" stands for Beauty Balm and it's designed to perfects the skin to reveal a more even epidermis and well-hydrated, flawless complexion, all in one. Ideal for any age and any skin type, the Marcelle BB Cream comes in two shades and is suitable for a wide variety of carnations thanks to its self-adjusting pigments that transform and adapt to skin tone.
Marcelle BB Cream claims to be the ultimate skin enhancer as this Beauty Balm with self-adjusting pigments, powerful antioxidants, aloe and chamomile does it all for your skin:
Minimizes the appearance of imperfections and pores
Evens out skin tone
Provides an excellent make-up base and replaces primers
Matifies skin and controls shine
Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
Soothes and calms skins
Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
Promotes skin regeneration
I think this product is amazing for girls who are on the go or/and who can't bother with foundation - like me - as it does everything at once! I personally use it instead of foundation because I have found that it unifies my skin tone incredibly well and it's also great to minimize my huge pores. I would say this BB Cream provides light coverage as I had to use concealer on top of it to properly hide the redness around my eyes (damn you eczema!) and conceal pimples or blemishes. That's perfect with me as I can't stand heavy-duty and mask-like foundations anyway.
Because of my dry skin, I can't use this BB Cream as a tinted moisturizer in the winter but I'm sure it would be great in the summer because it does leave my skin soooo soft and smooth. The only thing is that it doesn't contain SPF, so if you are a lazy gal - like me, again - you will be disappointed to have to apply sunscreen on top of it.
I assume I was sent the shade Light to Medium to try because I can't find the name of the shade anywhere on the tube, and at first sight I thought it looked way too dark and yellowish for my skintone, but it blends surprisingly well and just disappear to an almost matte finish with just the right amount of glow to make you look healthy,
I think the packaging is amazing - light, mess-proof and sanitary. A pump is all I need to cover my whole face - OK, I won't lie, I don't apply it on my forehead as it's covered by my bangs anyway - and that's it! No need to worry about bacteria or anything.
Marcelle BB Cream is available at pharmacies and mass retail stores across Canada for $22.95 for 1.5 OZ / 45 mL. You can also order it on Marcelle website!

I recently purchased Marcelle's BB cream in light to medium shade, and I am very happy with the product.
BB cream, to be clear, is not a primer. Primers "prime" your face for make up, much like... er... painting a wall! Beauty Balm is supposed to improve and nurture your skin.
So far, I am happy with the coverage and the appearance of my skin. I feel like I have more of a "glow" and a natural color. It does even out the tone and coverage is good. Not the same as a foundation or concealer.
I don't like the bottle it comes in, the pump is soooooo dumb. The first time I used it, I pumped it a couple times before it got going and when it finally came out it sprayed my shirt... BAD first experience! :| It came out though in the wash. If it just came in a squeeze tube, that would be fine.
It has no SPF, how unfortunate. I have also heard that there is an SPF version in the works, but if not, I will not purchase this again. For a cream that claims to be for the better of your skin, then why no sun protection?
For the price, you get a lot of cream and a good skin product--but I would look for a an SPF BB cream or wait until Marcelle comes out with one.
The Marcelle BB Cream Beauty Balm is claimed to be the first Canadian-made BB cream which was recently released early February. I was very excited to try out this product since I have been a long-time user of Asian BB creams and I was curious as to how this product measures up. When this was finally made available at my local Shopper's Drug Mart, I had to get my hands on it and I have been religiously using it for the last two weeks.
PACKAGING: I was impressed at how much thought they put into the packaging. It comes in a white plastic tube with a pump. Not only does it make it more sanitary but it allows you to control how much of the product to dispense. Unlike other BB creams which come in 30ml tubes, this one comes with 45ml of the product.
PRICE and AVAILABILITY: The price is reasonable. It's $24.99 and is available at Shopper's Drug Mart but they sometimes have 15-30% OFF SALE on their Marcelle products. I was able to purchase mine for $17.99. It's more affordable than the other Asian BB creams I have tried and is more readily available at drugstores. The nuisance with Asian BB creams is that I either have to order it online or visit an Asian Cosmetics store in Toronto.
This BB claims to provide 8 in 1 Multi-Benefits
(1) Evens out skin tone
(2) Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
(3) Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
(4) Promotes skin regeneration
(5) Controls shine
(6) Soothes and Calms
(7) Reduces the appearance of imperfections
(8) Provides anti-dull radiant complexion
While I can't attest to the long-term benefits (i.e. protection from premature aging), I have been liking this BB cream for the following reasons
- It has cut own my makeup routine time in half. It is suggested that this BB cream be used as
a lightweight moisturizer, a tinted corrector, or a make-up base. While I still have to apply a moisturizer, I don't have to apply as much and I have skipped applying a makeup base/primer and setting powder altogether. This BB cream is extremely easy to apply - can be applied with your fingers (which is what I usually do) or with a brush. This is ideal for those days when you need to get out of the house quickly, still want an even complexion but don't want to go through the trouble of applying layers and layers of makeup. It's also great to bring in your purse for touch-ups during the day, which is harder to do with foundations.
- It evens out my skin tone without that mask-like appearance that foundations have. It gives your skin a radiant and healthy appearance, looks natural, and is very lightweight. My skin is combination-oily and this BB cream lives up to the claim of controlling shine. It blends really well and it applies smoothly since it does have that perfect moisturizer-like consistency. I have redness on my cheeks and the aloe and chamomile in this product has helped in soothing my skin.
- My skin has been very cooperative lately and I'm not in need of heavy coverage. This BB cream is enough to conceal any imperfections I want to cover up. During days when I need more coverage, I wear this then use concealer to cover up any blemishes that are still visible. It has a medium coverage - better than your typical tinted moisturizer but not as good as a full coverage foundation. If you have a lot of blemishes or very visible discoloration then this product will not offer that full coverage you want. However, this can work as a great base under your foundation. Since it does a good job at evening out your skin tone, you don't need to apply as much foundation.
- It's easy to remove and my Olay Daily Facial Cleansing Cloth removes it just fine. It claims to be hypo-allergenic, perfume free, paraben free, oil free, and non-comedogenic. This is one of the main reasons why I prefer using BB creams to foundation - it's a lot more gentle and forgiving on your skin. This has not made me break out and it has not clogged my pores. My skin is really sensitive and I love that it's fragrance free and paraben free.
THE CONS
- This BB cream only comes in two shades - light to medium and medium to dark. I have medium skin tone with yellow undertones and the medium to dark blends very well with my skin. While it does claim to have self-adjusting pigments, I don't see this working for someone with darker skin tones and very light skin tones so that limits the group this BB cream can cater for.
-For a BB cream, I am surprised that it does not contain SPF since every Asian BB cream I have used offered some sun-protection. It's not a big deal for me since my moisturizer already provides sun-protection but for a product that claims to do so much, it should at least have SPF. I did hear that Marcelle is currently in the process of making one with SPF.
- Don't expect this to be a miracle product that solves every skin problem you have. While it can even out your skin tone and cover up some imperfections, a full coverage foundation would be better suited for those with a lot of blemishes and discoloration.
THE VERDICT: This is a huge improvement to the already available North American brands of BB creams. While I like the Asian BB creams slightly more, the Marcelle BB cream is pretty comparable, is more affordable, and more readily available. I can see myself repurchasing this product and if they come out with one with SPF, then for sure I will get my hands on those.
I received a sample of this to review from Marcelle and while I like this product, the price and the quality seem to make it just a more expensive primer. I have problem skin so this is too sheer for me to wear on it's own but as a tinted primer, this does a good job. It's rich and very moisturising which I like a lot but it isn't very pigmented.
The colour does a good job of absorbing and changing to match your skin tone. When I first tried it on my hand, it seemed to just disappear into my skin! I like to wear this underneath my foundation and over top my moisturiser. I think compared to the Asian BB creams, it is comparable but darker and less pigmented and I find that the Asian ones tend to cover more skincare problem bases (they make anti-aging ones) etc. and this one is thinner and more watery. All in all, I like this product but I'm not sure if I will repurchase. I like the price though= $23 is pretty comparable to other BB creams so it isn't bad.
