I found this cream to be... average.
It did moisturize well, and is in a nice looking jar. The SPF is something I like in the cream, although isn't really necessary for me considering I work inside a lab all day. So I'd have to bring it with me to work and re-apply it for lunch which isn't all that necessary.
The wrinkle-fighting factor is another added bonus in this cream, but I'd need to try it for more than a month or so to notice any difference. It's pretty pricey, so I'm not sure if I would actually purchase this cream versus another lower-priced wrinkle cream.
Overall, I would say it's alright, but not a cream I'd rush out to get. Although I am glad I got to try it!
I received Marcelle Essentials 1st Wrinkles Day Cream SPF 15 as part of the product review club. I liked that it has sunscreen included in your moisturizer because that is the first thing I look for when purchasing day cream for my face. I do wish that the spf was higher though, I really need the protection for my pale complexion. I also found the product a bit heavy for the summer months. I usually have an oily t-zone at the end of the day and this cream did not help that, it made my t-zone shiny. I did not notice an obvious improvement in my forehead, around the eye wrinkles. Perhaps with continued use it would be more apparent. The smell of the cream was pleasant but overall at it's current pricepoint I'll probably stick with my Olay/Aveeno/Neutrogena with spf.
I really liked this cream, it was light, smooth and moisturizing all at the same time. I liked that it didn't leave my skin feeling heavy or greasy but more light and nutritional.
I like that there is an SPF in it but am saddened it is only 15; 25 or 30 would be better, so I still have to use my facial sun screen in addition to this.
I really liked this and would buy it again in second.
First I would like to thank Chick Advisor's Product Review Club and Marcelle for selecting me to try this day cream. Second, I apologise for the delay to post my review. I received this cream nicely packed.
Now, talking about the cream. I expected this cream to be light but its not. I guess that is because of the SPF factor. It does not absorb rapidly and feels heavy. The first 3 days when I used this cream I felt a very light or I should say mild burning sensation, but the 4th day I felt nothing, my skin got used to it. As I mentioned this cream is not light , so my skin appears oily after couple of hours. I started putting less and now its not that oily but still I am not happy the way it feels. It has SPF 15, it could be better if it was more than 15.
As far as its effectiveness is concerned, I notice no improvement till now. May be need to continue using it to see some visible signs of improvement. I was happy when I opened the pack and found the jar quiet heavy. I thought it has lot of cream, but when I checked the quantity on jar it says 50ml, that means the jar itself is heavy and like other brands it has just the standard amount of product. At the price of $ 28, I guess Olay would be a better option. Anyways, more than price, its the effectiveness that matters.
In nutshell, there are some better wrinkle creams available.
First off, thank you PRC for sending me this product and giving me the opportunity to try it out.
As I have sensitive skin, I was excited to try Marcelle's hypo-allergenic day cream. I'm at an age where while not burdened with lots of wrinkles, I can see them forming a bit and thought this may be a way to nip the problem before it even started. I also was eager to use a SPF15 face cream as my current face cream doesn't have SPF and I've been considering switching to a cream with SPF.
I was sorely disappointed with the results. My face stung a bit when I put the cream on - and I felt like I was just rubbing sunscreen on my face. The formula didn't agree well with my sensitive skin and I'm not sure which ingredient was the cause for this. While I continued using to give it a fair chance for two weeks, I did not see any improvements in the areas of my face where wrinkles are forming. The effect that the cream had on my skin will prevent me from buying or recommending this product.
I was pleasantly surprised when I used this cream. I do not usually buy creams with sunscreen in them because of the smell and thickness, but this cream was not as thick as most with sunscreen. I didn't like however that it took awhile to absorb into my skin. I have young children and only have a certain amount of time to get ready so the added waiting time to apply my makeup was not good. The smell was decent. I think a face cream shouldn't be to perfumey so it works for me! I was also pleased with the price, as most creams on the market are at least 5 to 10 dollars more. I also didn't notice any difference in the wrinkles around my eyes but my forehead wrinkles didn't seem as deep after only just one week! As for buying it, I might buy it in the winter but as for summertime it's a little to thick for my skin type!
I haven't really been a cream user in the past. I am always worried that it would be too heavy for my skin. And I was right, this cream felt a bit too heavy. I didn't break out, luckily, but I felt like it took awhile for the cream to absorb.
Some others were complaining about the suncreen smell, but that's one of my favorite things. I love the smell of this cream.
I also wish that it had a higher SPF. I really like to use SPF 30 or higher, but some protection is better than none.
All in all, it's an okay product, but I don't think I would buy it, especially at the current selling price.
I like that the idea of marcelle trying to target my age group, as I find a lot of products are either too young or too old for my skin. I wish I loved this cream, but couldn't. IMO, the price seems a little overpriced for what the product offers. The cream may be more ideal for the winter season. It only contains SPF 15, which is too low to get any real protection. I find the texture of the cream itself is too heavy for the summer as one needs to layer extra sun protection.
First of all, I would like to thank the PRC for sending me this product. I was excited to try it out and see for myself what kind of results I could get. I have used Marcelle products in the past and have found them to be of decent quality, albeit a tad overpriced in my opinion. Clocking in at 27.50 CDN for MSRP I would say now that this product is also somewhat overpriced, but to be fair you do get a lot of product in the jar.
When I got the jar in the mail the first thing I noticed was that the container was heavier and I really liked that. The packaging was well done and looked clean and smart. One thing that I should mention about the product though is that although the jar is nice and heavy duty, the lid is made of flimsy plastic and 2 days into having it I dropped it into the sink and the lid broke, so it doesn’t seal perfectly anymore, not enjoyable.
The cream is fairly lightweight and you don’t need to use a ton of it to get good coverage. It seemed to come off a bit greasy on my skin, but not so much that I wouldn’t continue to use it. I’ve only been using it for about 2 weeks now and although initially I had a spot or two in the first week they were small and didn’t persist.
After using this product for two weeks I would say that it is a fine face cream but not something I would buy again. For the price, I would use Aveeno Ultra Calming or Positively Radiant which actually costs about the same or a bit less if you get it on special. This is a good cream, but I feel like I can do better for the price.
Once again, thanks to the product review club for sending me this cream to try, I much appreciate it and look forward to hopefully trying more product for you in the future.
I recieved this product from Chickadvisor's Product Review Club and I've been using it consistantly already for about 2 weeks. What I like about this product is the package, prefer the jar form then a pump. It did take away some of my wrinkles around my eye area, which I am happy about. The only two disadvantages I can think of about this product are: 1. makes my face appear oily, maybe its because I apply to much of it on. Hard to tell. 2. The texture is thick, would have prefered it better if the texture was a bit lighter. But I do like how it does have SPF in it.
