    Good but beware the weight limit

    This slant board from Marcy is a good option for people who want exercise equipment at home, but don’t want to commit the money and the space for something like a treadmill or exercise bike and prefer muscle workout to aerobic. It’s versatile and can be used by people at varying levels of fitness, though it does have some minor drawbacks.

    Putting the slant board together is a pretty simple affair, and took me about ten minutes. It can be done alone, but is easier with two people, and doesn’t require additional tools besides what’s included in the packaging. Once assembled, it can be adjusted to different heights, including lying almost flat on the ground for easy storage. It still takes up quite a bit of room still, but being able to flatten it means you can pop it behind something if you don't have a permanent gym storage.

    Because the slant board is pretty light (10 kg) it’s easy to move it around the room, or even fold it against the wall and store it when not in use. It makes it much easier to keep it around without it getting in the way, like a permanent fixture would be. Adjusting the height also allows you to use it for various exercises, and just requires you to remove a pin and then re-insert it when you’ve found the height you’re looking for. It's not just a board for lying upside down and doing situps, it's pretty versatile. Just moving around and changing which way you lie will work different parts of the muscle, especially if used in conjunction with some weights.

    One downside to this equipment is the weight limit, which is 250 pounds. Most people will be below that, but overweight people and those who are extremely muscled might exceed that limit, and that information isn’t listed anywhere on the product page, so it's really important to note. The board feels very sturdy, and would probably be fine for someone over 250, but I do think that bar should be higher so that anyone can use it without having to worry. The weight limit is probably just the manufacturer protecting itself in case of early breakage due to heavier weights, but if you're above 250 pounds, it's something to consider.

    The instruction manual includes various tips about exercising, warming up, and how to make use of the slant board, and there are videos online you can find which provide great examples of how to make the best use of this for your own goals. The types of exercise involved in using it are more intense than just regular strength training if you use it in the right way, but as long as you know what to expect you should be just fine.

    Overall, I like this slant board and think it’s a good fit for many people who want a piece of affordable and storable fitness equipment in the house. However, those of a higher weight who work out, might want to be aware of the weight limit on this piece of equipment.
