When I first saw it looked so cute and soft. It was tricky at first but soon I got the hang of it and started using it frequently! It really does help with the blending and creating a better natural look!!
I received this from Chick Advisor as part of a free trial. I normally wouldn't have purchased a product like this because it just seems like a new fad and I thought how wrong can you really go applying foundation with a regular old sponge. Was I ever wrong.
I had to look up a couple tutorial videos on You Tube to make sure I was using it correctly. Glad I did because they all instructed to wet the blender and squeeze it dry before applying your foundation which gives a more even application and saves you wasting foundation that would normally just be absorbed into your dry blender or sponge.
The only downside is the fact that it should be washed everyday after using it. For the price you would pay for it in the stores and as rushed as I usually am in the mornings, I think it's just as easy to buy a bag of makeup sponges that you can throw out after a couple of days for half the price of the Dream Blender.
I was skeptical at first glance, thinking it was just going to be a pain to have to wash, and how was it any different than my usual sponges I use. But...... I really like using it. It blend the foundation really well, and it does a great job around the eyes and smaller areas. Glad I was able to try it.
Comparing this blender to my favourite $25 foundation brush, I am blown away! I love it! Provides a beautiful finish and amazing coverage. Super easy to clean and set at a very affordable price point. I'll be switching permanently from brush to blender!
I received Maybelline New York Dream Blender from the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club for the purpose of a product review.
Right out of the package, I was surprised at the firmness of the Maybelline New York Dream Blender sponge. From my experience, I was simply expecting something a little more pliable - not an issue.
My first try with the Dream Blender, I used it dry and I wasn't feeling so impressed. The second time, I wet it and towel dried, according to the recommendation. From that point, it was smooth gliding. I know that some people prefer to dab and stipple only, however, this blender allowed me to do more WITHOUT sucking up all of the product into the sponge. Wasted product is not my thang.
The tip of the Maybelline New York Dream Blender is absolutely perfect for the wee under eye areas that my fingers are not so successful at reaching without getting foundation on my eyelashes. Bonus points here! The overall shape could stand to be slightly different - perhaps more rounded on one side, and more flat on the other. Something to think about ;)
In addition to applying Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation with the Maybelline New York Dream Blender, later in the day, I applied my current night cream. Superb spreading and coverage! I enjoyed not having face cream all over my fingers / nails.
The Maybelline New York Dream Blender has no detectible odor, which is a great concern to me when using products derived from plastics.
I have a few questions - what is this cute little sponge actually made from? If I knew, would I still want to be rubbing it all over my face everyday? How fast will this little thing deteriorate? Should I replace it every few months? Year? How often should I wash it, and with what?
Despite the unknown, I will keep this tool in my 'frequently used' drawer and look forward to trying it with a variety of face products.
The best benefit to using a blender - not getting face makeup (or creams!) under my nails and all over my fingers AND not getting hand cream and finger products all over my face. BAM!
Sincerely,
R :)
I was very pleased to have the opportunity to review the Maybelline New York Dream Blender compliments of Chick Advisor.
The Dream Blender was easy to use, comfortable to hold and apply the make-up. It is soft, but firm enough to apply the product with accuracy in areas such as the eyes. It has the added bonus of being able to use it slightly damp for a lighter application.
Before using the Dream Blender I typically used my fingers or a wedge sponge. I loved using the Dream Blender and I will use and purchase the product again. I have also recommended it to friend and family.
Was not the best beauty blender type product that I've tried before. This dream blender was super tough. I just absorbed all of the foundation and did not let it have a good pay off.
I'm not a fan of the blender. I would much rather just use my finger to be honest.
I find that the sponge absorbs a lot of the foundation and leaves streaks.
It also 'gets caught' as I'm trying to use it
I did like that it got around my brows and nose
I wasn't sure how well this would work. I thought it would be equivalent to a piece of cotton on a stick. Boy, was I wrong. There's such firmness and and blends absolutely perfectly.
Not sure what the point of this instrument is except as a conversation piece. I think it works well if you don't already own a foundation brush, but I do, which made this blender left than ideal for my purposes.
