I really wanted to love this. I like the idea of a smaller blender with a handle. But in reality, I just couldn't love it as much as I love my Beauty Blender for applying foundation. The blender is too small, and it doesn't absorb water very well to get a lighter finish on the foundation. It hurt my hand to hold the handle after applying the foundation. I can't use my favorite application technique with this blender because of the size.
BUT, it does a pretty good job of blending concealer. So that is why I am still giving it four stars. For blending concealer, it really does get into small blemishes or under eye circles easily. I will keep using it for those types of things, but I'm not sure if I would buy it it in the future just for that.
I was given this product to try as a part of he ChickAdvisor Product Review Club.
This blender is a good product. It helps to blend the foundation correctly on the skin. It reaches the small places like corners of the nose. My skin is dry at some places. Unfortunately, when I blend the foundation at these places, the dry skin appears and it's not very beautiful. I recommand it for people who don't have dry skin.
I received this product for free from the Product Review Club- thanks ChickAdvisor!
I was quite curious to see how this sponge/blender would work as I tend to be a sponge fan and use one almost daily over bushes. That said, I was surprised at how little this sponge is. Not only is the handle short, but the sponge itself is fairly small. The texture is also quite dense, so you don't get the pouncing action you would with other makeup blending sponges. The sponge does work with the Dream Velvet foundation texture, but you have to work quite quickly as the foundation begins to set before you can get it fully blended. I like this sponge better with other formulas, but it's the best for apply concealer as the small shape can easily get in under/around the eyes. Overall, the sponge is okay, the handle is a nice feature, but not a must have.
I recently received this item free through chick advisor. I must say I liked the product but was not totally in love with it. The handle of the blender was great bonus as most of my makeup sponges get pretty messy. The shape of the applicator was unique but I also found it a bit awkward to get used to but after some work I was able to get better with it. I love that the instructions told you to wet the applicator and towel dry it because it's something I never would have thought of! It applied the product great and after practice was easy to manuever I'm typically more of a make up sponge dabbler and sniper not a circular applicator so I found it a bit awkward to get the foundation on properly with circular motions. That being said I enjoyed trying the product and will continue to use it as long as it stays alive and afterwards will decide if it should replace the wedge sponges I usually get in big bags or not.
I recently received this product for free as part of the Chickadvisor Product Review club. I have been using the Maybelline New York Dream Blender for a week now and have loved my experience! It blends the foundation perfectly. I used the pro tip before use and was very happy with the finish. Loved how it blended and got my nose creases and under my eyes I'm totally going to keep using! And recommend to everyone!
I normally use a Beauty Blender to apply my foundation so I was interested to try this application tool out. It is a great price and I was hoping it would be my new favorite. The texture of the sponge is firmer and less spongy than the sponge I am used to. It is also really small! I like to use a damp sponge and roll it across my skin to buff in the foundation for a natural finish. This sponge was much to small for this technique and it resulted in patchy coverage. The small size and pointy end make it perfect for tight spaces like under the eyes and around my nose. It really gets into the nooks and crannies! The handle was awkward and clumsy when using it on bigger areas but in these smaller spots it really helped my precision. I am a little concerned about cleaning the sponge with the handle. I worry that all the dirty water and soap will get into the handle and start growing mold or something in the part of the sponge that connects to the handle. I would recommend replacing it frequently. I think I will use this for precision work only and keep using my Beauty Blender for all-over face foundation.
I received this product for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club but this has not influenced my review.
Nope. Definitely better blenders out there. I have always wanted to have one of my own, so I'm super grateful to the review club for letting me have that chance, but I've borrowed my sister's and they're much better at actually blending. I felt like I had to use the Maybelline blender as a paintbrush and coat my face, as opposed to dabbing and actually blending (that also has to do with the foundation itself, see that review). The blender is also super thick and not very spongy, yet somehow absorbs half the liquid before it makes it to my face.
I will say that the price is pretty great and for that I would recommend it, but as far as effectiveness there are definitely better out there.
Thanks again to the CA Review Club for giving me the chance to try it out though :)
This product was received for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. The Maybelline Dream Velvet Blender is dense and firm and doesn’t have a lot of bounce to it so it doesn’t soak up all your foundation. However, it is way too dense and doesn’t have the nice bouncy feeling like the beauty blender. The handle for the Dream Blender was nice to have to avoid putting your fingers all over the sponge applicator and it was very easy to use; however, the sponge itself did not allow blending of the foundation easy, too time consuming and I found that it took a lot of swipes and circular motions to get the foundation to spread evenly. I prefer my brush and beautyblender as my method of foundation application.
I do enjoy using the Maybelline Dream Velvet Blender damp for under-the-eye concealer for an airbrushed finish because it really gets in there and it’s pointy enough to go on the inner corner that other tools can’t reach. I found press and rolling the blender gave me the best results. It retails for CAD $7.99.
So worth every penny! foundations can be very pricey. This is very affordable. The coverage was awesome but i felt you needed to wear a good moisturizer otherwise it didn't apply smoothly. The blender was so adorable but didn't absorb any water. However once i wore a good moisturizer it was easier to blend and i loved the pointy tip which was easy to angle in creases.
I recieved this in the mail to review with the Maybelline velvet foundation. It was okay. It worked well enough to get the product onto my skin, but I think I still prefer to use a make up brush to apply my foundation. The dream blender worked a bit better when I soaked it in water a bit but it was still pretty hard after soaking it as it didn't absorb a lot of the water.
