This product was received for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. This is a thick gel-whipped foundation that has a velvety mousse formula with a soft-matte finish. It lays really nicely on the skin, feels very lightweight and comfortable without feeling heavy or cakey. It covers redness very well and skin tone is more even while looking natural. Although it says it is ideal for normal to combination skin, it works wonderful for my combination/dry skin. I was worried it would adhere to drier, flakier areas around my nose but it didn’t cling or emphasize any dry patches or flakes at all. However, I do recommend exfoliating because I can see this possible emphasizing dry patches if skin is not properly exfoliated. I wouldn’t say that this foundation is particularly hydrating but it definitely works for combination/dry skin. I would suggest if you are oily in the T-zone to use a mattifying primer. Overall, this is a really good drugstore foundation!

I received this foundation to try out and I was pleasantly surprised by it! I am not usually a foundation wearer because sometimes its can look dry and cakey, but this foundation was so velvety smooth when being applied to the skin, it has a nice matte finish on the skin. I would definitely buy this product again when I run out!

I got this in my fake tan shade from this campaign, but have also bought it now in a lighter shade to use on my natural pale skin (and for once the lightest shade isn't pink toned but yellow which matches me much better), I like it that much.

The blending sponge that came with this too is poor on the other hand. I think Maybelline was going for a take on the beauty blender sponge but they got it all wrong, this is hard and doesn't expand when you wet it. I wouldn't recommend the sponge, but the foundation is fab.

Im such a converter after trying the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet foundation i cant believe how good of a coverage i got,it was like it said matte and my oily skin didnt come through and the shade of colour was just perfect!

I've tried lots of foundations in high to low end. I have skin that can be flaky but oily at the same time. I had no breakouts with this product at all. It didn't leave me like an oil slick nor did it oxidize or start to "melt" off my face after a few hours.

It stayed put all day and while there was some shine at the end, I think that's forgivable. Even without a primer it stayed put and covered my large pores. I find it to be a light foundation that helps even out my red blotches I have along my cheeks and nose. It also didn't highlight the areas that can be flaky on me. I'm very picky and quite impressed.

I definitely recommend trying this product. I did apply it with the Dream Blender but prefered to use a differnt beauty blender to apply it the best.

When i got it i was expecting it to be as it was advertised, as a matte foundation, but NOPE!! it is definitely more dewy than matte, don't think it would work well with oily skin!! I did find it hydrating though!! I still love my Maybelline fit me foundation but this is not bad!! I don't think i would purchase it myself though!!

The Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation application is pretty easy and it blends well into the skin. As advertised, the initial finish is matte on my skin. But after a few hours of having it on, I noticed a bit of sheen on my face. This is the part that concerns me. I want a “glow,” yes. But I am not sure I need a “sheen.” My skin is oily enough without having an extra shine to it. But like I said, the application is pretty nice. I like the fact that it’s more of a mousse than a liquid so it’s great to use with the blender. I think I will try this product again, but I’m going to try it in a different shade to see if that was the cause of it looking weird on me after wearing it for a couple hours. I tested Natural Beige – but I think this product is worth purchasing so I’ll buy it in Caramel to see if it’s a better fit.

I really liked this foundation. I am not normally a fan of the wet type foundation but was willing to try this one as chickadvisor was so kind to offer it up for testing. I felt like the pro tip of wetting the sponge worked the best for my look. It was more lighter of an application. It covered pretty well. And was easy enough to apply. Only use a few dots is my reccomendation. I have some acne on my chin line and it covered it well. When it dried their was no flaking. It looked pretty good for a 10$ foundation. It felt soft on my face. I would not say it lasted all day but definitely a work day. It would be easier to match your skin color at the stores with testers on your hand. I would advise this rather than just picking what you think would match your skin. It held up pretty good with my other "home party brand" makeup ie eye liner, Mascara blush etc. The smell was pleasant and not over powering. It was overall a good experience with a Maybelline makeup. I am only undecided on weather to buy or not as I personally like power foundation better.

Soft, matte, and hydrating enough for drier types without sucking moisture from skin yet gentle, matte, and lightly hydrating for oily skin to curb shine yet still provide a bit of moisture that won’t make you more oily or greasy

It is a smooth, flawless coverage that was easy to build, easy to wear, and incredibly lightweight. It wore for me a solid seven hours without fading and without setting with powder.

Great coverage and matte finish, covered under eye very well and lasted all day. my skin did not feel dry at all. takes some time to apply but worth the great coverage and look. skin looked even and almost doll like. would buy of a high end brand.
