I love that i had the opportunity to try this for free as I have a drawer full of foundations that I've only used a few times because they don't live up to their advertised descriptions. This wasn't the case with the Dream Velvet Foundation. It goes on silky and smooth and provides great all day matte coverage.
It is by far the best matte foundation I have tried yet. I have combination skin and my face is usually very oily by the end of the day with other foundations. With Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation my skin looked the same at the end of the day as it did after I first applied it which was amazing.

I use foundation daily, so it was nice to be able to try a new product before having to spend my own money on it. I was very pleased with the results. It goes on very smooth. It blends perfectly and has a nice matte finish, which helps with my oily t-zone. Not sure if I chose the right shade , as every brand is different, but it still seemed to blend in nice with my shade of skin.
I would definately think about switching my usual brand.

I love everything about this foundation. Amazingly even coverage lasted all day with no shine! It kept my skin soft and hydrated. Not only did it keep my skin hydrated and looking great, it didn't cause any breakouts or irritations. About half the price of my regular foundation and all the benefits I look for in a foundation, I have made the switch for good. I have talked all my sisters into trying it out and I'm sure they will love it too!

I received Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation from the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club for the purpose of a product review.

When I opened the ChickAdvisor box, and upon seeing the packaging of the foundation, I was somewhat concerned that I had chosen a shade too dark for my "winter white" skin tone. Upon application, I was immediately concerned that I'd gone too light. The 'velvet' seems to create a whiteish hue? Additionally, there seems to be a mismatch between the tint of the container and the actual product it contains.

With the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation being a tad on the light side, I primarily used the product around my eye area. It offered good coverage on areas of discolouration / bags and did go on uniformly for the most part. I did not find that there was any particular learning curve with this product in terms of the way it is best applied - however, it will start to ball and peel after too much rubbing.

As it will, my skin is slowly but surely starting to mature. I found that on some areas of my face, the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation actually highlighted those fine lines after only a couple hours of wear. I've attached a photo illustrating such, using my hand (easier to see). This foundation may be best suited for young, naturally radiant skin, or perhaps paired with a heavier moisturizer.

It is my preference to use foundation in a thin, nearly translucent layer. With this, I found the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation wore best when set with a matte pressed powder.

The product does not seem to have a detectible scent, which is a bonus if you ask me!

Overall, I did enjoy trying the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation and I do anticipate continuing to use it up, but only in combination with other products I am already using.

I recently tried Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation and I received it complimentary from Chick Advisor.

When I first tried this product I tried it using my fingers and wedge sponge and I didn't like the finish on my skin. It felt too thick and it seemed to settle in my pores and fine lines. Several days later I tried the product again but I used a makeup primer and utilized the Maybelline New York Dream Blender. The product application seemed much better.

I have combination skin and the Dream Velvet Foundation did initially have a matte finish, but a few hours later I did have some shine in my t-zone- mostly my nose and forehead. My skin did not feel dry on my cheeks and my skin felt soft.

My usual foundation gives a matte finish for a little longer, but I liked the finish so I think a blotting paper and some powder would help with my shiny nose. I have told my friends and family about the foundation and have let them try it on their hands so they see what it was like.

I'm not sure that this is the right foundation for me in the summer as my skin tends to be shinier, but I'm looking forward to using it then.

You really only need a pea size amount for your whole face.

I thought that the colour looked too dark in my hand but when I blended it, it was a perfect match!

It doesn't feel heavy or look oily either.

Such lovely foundation... so soft and blended with my skin so perfectly. I was worried about choosing a shade online, but when I got it, it was just perfect.

I have combination skin so I was a little worried how a matte foundation (which I love) that has hydrating properties (which I don't love) was going to work on my "high maintenance" skin. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! The foundation went on smoothly, the colour was a great match and it didn't leave an oil slick on my face by noon. It was long lasting and looked quite natural on my face. I would definitely purchase again, but only if the price was a little lower. Seems a little pricey for a drug store brand.

I am so glad I was able to try Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation thanks to ChickAdvisor! I love the soft velvety feel of the product. It blended well (had some issues with the blender, see my review for that), and lasted all day. I'm a busy mom running my own business, so the products I use have to work for me and last. I was concerned that the colour I would normally choose for a foundation was not available to me. The colour I ended up with was slightly different, however it blended wonderfully! The foundation did not cake in spots at all. I felt that I looked natural and fresh. Thank you so much for the opportunity, Maybelline and ChickAdvisor!

I was skeptical at first as I have had trouble finding a good liquid foundation but I loved this one! It went on smooth and evenly. It had a great matte finish and was long lasting. It had great coverage and was soft. I would purchase this and recommend this!
