Maybelline Dream velvet foundation does an awesome job at camouflaging skin imperfections. I find however that it is slightly thick- just a bit smoother would be a benefit. A little dab goes a long way, which is great!
I enjoy the soft and satin matte finish as it does not result in an oily appearance. My makeup lasted longer and found that I did not need that extra touch up during the day.
I received this for free for testing purposes from chick advisor
The moment i received this the mail, i knew i had to try it out right then and there and so i did.
My personal opinion in both the foundation and blender are as follows:
-I chose Natural Beige as my shade as that is my normal shade whenever i purchase anything from Maybelline, but for some reason it comes out Fair to the skin it comes out lighter than what other Maybellinf foundation of the same shade. I let it set for a few mins and still the same so i just went ahead and finished the rest of my face and try to not look like im a ghost.
-I applied the foundation using the Blender that came with it and i did not like it all. I tried to wet it but its just so stiff and not very ergonomic to use so not even halfway through my application i gave up and just used my own beauty blender. Its the handle tht makes it awkward to use and the stiffness of the blender.
-It somewhat does not live up to what it claims to be. its suppose to be hyrdating but it gave me dry spots .
-It does give a nice coverage buildable i would say but if you're gonna purchase this buy a shade darker.
Conclusion:
I will not buy this foundation again and specially not the blender . I did not like how it comes on FAIR as suppose to just Natural Beige. Its not as Hydrating. The Blender is horrible.
Give it. a try and let us know what you think.
Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation was a product sent to me for free. I'm reviewing this as a member of Chick Advisors product review club. I found this foundation to be OK. It's not the most spectacular foundation out there I've definitely tried and use better. The item is sold for a retail price of $16.99 and contain 1fl oz (30ml). Maybelline labels this is their first gel-whippped foundation that provides a 'soft-matte finish just like velvet'. It does feel nice on my skin and I do like the coverage it's just the right amount without making you look like you're wearing anything at all! I would purchase again in the future if my go to product was not on hand!
I was chosen to review this product for free through ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. I had such high hopes for this foundation but it really didn't live up for me. I found it overly thick and difficult to spread. I found that the coverage wasn't all that great, perhaps due to how difficult it was to spread. It did have a nice matte finish once it was on, but I didn't find that it was long lasting.
Received this free from ChickAdvisor. The texture and overall coverage of this product was fantastic. My color match was very good as well I find that yes it did deliver a good foundation for me I was not too fond of the packaging or the consistency as I felt it was a bit thick. All in all it turned out to be quite average. I am torn as to whether I would buy it or not. Most likely I would if my regular foundation was out of stock.
This foundation just didn't meet my expectations. I found it to be slightly too thick and it just didn't lay nicely on my skin. I will say that it did a good job hiding my imperfections, but unfortunately while doing that, it looked cakey in some areas, especially areas on my face that tend to be more dry. I wouldn't run out to buy this foundation. I think there are other drugstore options in the same price category that work much better on my skin and look natural. But thank you ChickAdvisor for giving me the opportunity to try this product.
I was generously provided by Maybelline and ChickAdvisor with the opportunity to try this product. I tried it as soon as it arrived, as I am always on the search for a better foundation. But alas, finding a good foundation, is like finding a good pair of jeans...it is not easy. I think the bottle is quite small for the cost of the product, but overall it does work quite well. The coverage was slightly off for me, but the product did spread very well and offered fairly even coverage. It is important to note that I found that it only worked well with the blender that I was also provided with by ChickAdvisor. If you try to use this product with your average sponge, or foundation brush you may run into some issues with caking. Overall I would give this product a 7/10.
I'm on the fence with this foundation. I don't hate it, but I'm not in love with it either. I've been trying it with different primers, with and without powders. When I put it on for the first few hours my face looks great, but it's also has minimal coverage, which is fine with me as I don't have that much that I'm trying to hide. The texture is something I've never used before, it's a thick mouse but I don't find it has a lot of coverage but I have slightly oily skin and by noon, I'm a bit of an oily mess, more than usual. Primers don't seem to make a difference, if I don't powder my face then it's a huge oil mess and I feel gross by mid afternoon, but if I do slightly try to set my face with powder, you can see it (I don't normally set my face with powder, so this could be user error and not the foundation). So in the end I'll use it on days I don't have anything special or doing anything major just to use it up, but I won't be repurchasing it.
I'm really not sure what to think about this foundation, I'm kind of torn. I was so so so fortunate to be part of the Review Club and get to try it, but it wasn't my favourite thing ever. The foundation I normally use is Rimmel and as the main comparison, Rimmel is better. The Dream Velvet was smooth, I'll definitely give it that and the price is average, but it barely stayed on an hour! It felt kind of watery and not thick enough to coat my skin. I tried to use more and then I started to look like a ghost. I feel bad saying it, but it definitely wasn't the best product I've used and I doubt I'd buy it again.
This product was provided from Chick Advisor for review. I received the Dream Velvet Foundation in the shade 20 classic Ivory a little over a week ago to try. Presently, my skin tone is medium to light due to the winter season.
My first impression was the mouse like texture of the the foundation was less of a mess to use compared to liquid foundation, and the product coming in a light squeezable tube container was ideal.
Unfortunately, that is where the positive review ends for this foundation. Using the dream blender to apply the product was not the easiest or smoothest application. I found the foundation due to its matte finish blended quite patchy on the skin, and it took a lot of swiping and moving the blender in circular motions to get foundation to look smooth on the face. A little goes a long way, and you can get a full coverage and cakey look quite easily.
After application the foundation looks quite matte on the face, and setting it lightly with translucent powder is best. Throughout the day the foundation slightly oxidizes and my face, especially the t-zone became very oily looking. I found myself having to blot my face several times throughout the day. And, at the end of the day of wearing the foundation for over 8 hours, my skin looked oily, but it also felt quite tight and dry in some areas.
I was really excited about this product, but sadly it was just not a great foundation from beginning to end.
