I recently received this item to test through ChickAdvisor. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by it. The colour was a great match to my ski tone (being very fair I sometimes find I'm stuck I between 2 shades). Also it applied with a great texture and Dried with a nice matte finish. As the make application progressed a couple dry spots became a bit more noticeable but not overly noticeable. I found that the coverage lasted a lot longer than other foundations. Also it was a lot less greasy and I found I used less than normal foundations on my skin to hide my trouble areas and even my skin tone out. I would recommend this product to people who are not overly dry in their skin tone and want a lighter and less greasy foundation. It's a new must have in my beauty bag :)
I received this product for free as part of the Chickadvisor Product Review club. I love this foundation! I have been using it for over a week now. I have the Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation 15 ivory. I have dry to normal skin type. This foundation left my skin with a beautiful soft finish. It blendes so nicely. I applied this product with the Maybelline New York Dream Blender that I also fell in love with! Personally I usually have flakey dry spots on my nose and on my forehead after applying my usual foundation, not anymore. I'm very happy with my experience using this product. Definitely a product I will be buying and recommending others.
The shade that I chose was the lightest available, Porcelain Ivory. I am very light skinned and was a bit concerned when I put some of the foundation on the back of my hand. It looked too dark and a bit pink. It was quite thick like a paste. You need to apply it quickly because it will dry out. I recommend only squeezing out the amount you are going to apply on one section of your face at a time. If you squeeze out the amount for your entire face it will become crusty and dry. I applied it both with my fingers and with the Dream Blender and both ways were fine. It ended up matching my skin well and the colour looked natural. It gives more of a light coverage like a tinted moisturizer and not opaque like a foundation. It is meant to be moisturizing and it is somewhat. I found that it made my dry patches flaky and emphasized them even with moisturizer or primer underneath. It wasn't a matte velvet finish on my skin as it was dry and flaky in patches and my forehead was a bit shiny. The overall look was light and natural but I did have to go back with concealer in some areas. I wouldn't recommend this for dry or oily skin but I think it might be just right for those lucky ones with normal skin who require only light coverage.
I received this product for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club but this has not influenced my review.
I'm really not sure what to think about this foundation, I'm kind of torn. I was so so so fortunate to be part of the Review Club and get to try it, but it wasn't my favourite thing ever. The foundation I normally use is Rimmel and as the main comparison, Rimmel is better. The Dream Velvet was smooth, I'll definitely give it that and the price is average, but it barely stayed on an hour! It felt kind of watery and not thick enough to coat my skin. I tried to use more and then I started to look like a ghost. I feel bad saying it, but it definitely wasn't the best product I've used and I doubt I'd buy it again.
I just received this product in the mail yesterday and couldn't wait to try it out! At first I wasn't so crazy about it, but throughout the day it was looking much better on my skin maybe because it settled into my skin a little bit over time. The colour I recieved in the mail was probably just one shade too dark for my skin, which is a bit of a shame, but I guess I'll just put it aside and use it in the summer time. However, my favourite part about this foundation was that at the end of the day my face was still completely matte, not one shiny spot anywhere, and that was without any touch ups at all! I was very impressed! I will definitely recommend this product to my family and friends and anyone else who may be interested in trying out.
This product was provided from Chick Advisor for review. I received the Dream Velvet Foundation in the shade 20 classic Ivory a little over a week ago to try. Presently, my skin tone is medium to light due to the winter season.
My first impression was the mouse like texture of the the foundation was less of a mess to use compared to liquid foundation, and the product coming in a light squeezable tube container was ideal.
Unfortunately, that is where the positive review ends for this foundation. Using the dream blender to apply the product was not the easiest or smoothest application. I found the foundation due to its matte finish blended quite patchy on the skin, and it took a lot of swiping and moving the blender in circular motions to get foundation to look smooth on the face. A little goes a long way, and you can get a full coverage and cakey look quite easily.
After application the foundation looks quite matte on the face, and setting it lightly with translucent powder is best. Throughout the day the foundation slightly oxidizes and my face, especially the t-zone became very oily looking. I found myself having to blot my face several times throughout the day. And, at the end of the day of wearing the foundation for over 8 hours, my skin looked oily, but it also felt quite tight and dry in some areas.
I was really excited about this product, but sadly it was just not a great foundation from beginning to end.
I LOVE THIS FOUNDATION!! I have been looking for a good foundation with excellent coverage for months and I have finally found it! It matches my skin perfectly and gives great coverage without feeling heavy or oily. I will definitely be buying it from now on!
I was chosen to review the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation. I was very impressed with it! For the price $16.99, I haven't seen or bought that can give you better coverage. Its light weight and I used it without powering after and still stays in place!!!! Would recommend it without hesitations!!!!
With it being winter here in Ontario, Canada, my face does get dry around my nose even with while moisturizing daily...this foundation left no flaking that I get with my usual foundation.
Will purchase!!!
I was given Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation to test from the ChickAdvisor Review club. I am not really one to try out different foundation as once I try something I stick to it. I was happy to be picked for this one. One things I love about this foundation is that it is very light when it goes one, you really do not need a lot to get a great amount of coverage. And he doesn't leave your face feeling heavy. I will for sure be making a switch after this.
If you are looking for a no shine but not drying, lightweight foundation then this would be it! Sheer civerage and seamless blend , especially when used alongside the sponge.
