I tried the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation as a part of a campaign with ChickAdvisor and Maybelline Canada for free. I love that its a soft-matte hydrating formula. it doesn't dry my skin or leave it oily. it has a light-medium coverage, I like the way it conceals and provide even coverage. I just got another one for my mom from the Shoppers drug mart, competitively priced!
I have used the same foundation for years but this one just convinced me to switch! I received this foundation through the product review club (thank you!!) and did not have a chance to try out the shades before ordering but the tone I chose matched my skin almost perfectly. I have very light skin and finding something that's not too dark is like finding gold. I used the blender I also received to finish the application and was so happy with the results. My skin looks so soft and smooth, and like I'm not even wearing makeup! Will definitely be buying this product again.
I tried Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation in shade 60 Sandy Beige, as part of a campaign for ChickAdvisor and Maybelline Canada. It is a soft-matte hydrating formula. I'm really happy with this gel-whipped foundation. It doesn't dry my skin or leave it oily. It doesn't leave a caked-on feeling even though it seems to be a full coverage foundation. Maybelline Dream Velvet really does what it claims- It "whips into a velvet-soft texture." I also found these in store at my local Shoppers Drug Mart new products display right when you walk into the beauty section. Got excited to see it there Lol I will be buying this one for sure. Competitively priced.
I'm fair skinned and the 05 Warm Porcelain worked well with my complexion. I didn't find that my skin was a little shiny after a few hours,so it's not a true matte foundation. However a little touch up with pressed powder and I'm good to go. I have combination skin. Dry in some areas and oily in others so maybe that's why.
Either way,I like the way it conceals and provides even coverage.
I'm not into wearing a whole lot of foundation, I hate that stuff caked on my face! I figured I would give this one a try, and believe it or not I loved it! I love the gel whipped formula, its smooth and went on perfect! Still not something I will wear often, but I definitely recommend it to someone who does like foundation!
I enjoyed this product! It definitely has the matte finish like it advertizes! I dont usually like creme foundations because they feel heavy but this one felt light and like i was barely wearing any makeup!
My experience with this product was sub-par. There wasn't much of a matte finish, my skin was very very dry after using it so the lasting hydration didn't work. I will not be purchasing this foundation in the future. But, I would recommend it to a friend because everyone's skin is different.
I also received this product for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club.
First of all, the name is already a familiar brand and one I currently use Maybelline’s mascara and eyeliner. I have used their foundation in the past but have since switched to a tinted moisturizer for the cold, damaging winter months. In this case, I used the Dream Blender to mix in a little foundation in with my current moisturizer to give me added hydration. Overall, the product is velvety smooth, as advertised. It went onto my skin evenly and with full coverage- no blotchy areas or discoloration. The matte finish was very nice because no one wants to walk out the door with a wet/too dewy foundation. I liked that once it was on it was smooth to the touch and didn’t look caked on. Compared to my usual base which is a tinted moisturizer, I can swap that out with this (added with a bit of my daily moisturizer) for evening and weekend looks as it is a little darker than I would use for everyday work makeup. I go very natural and generally don’t use much foundation unless I am going out. Given the size of the tube, I wouldn’t have to purchase another for quite some time. I would purchase the Dream Velvet Foundation again based on performance, a familiar and reputable brand name, and the price point for the product in comparison to the amount in the tube. Thanks to Chick Advisor for letting me test out this product for review purposes.
I received this product as part of the Product review club :) Was s oooo excited to receive this as i needed a new foundation. My last foundation didn't cover well and didnt last. I received my box about a week ago and ran into the house to try it. I picked the shade 70 pure beige. Its pretty darn close to the shade i use! I like the consistency of it. Blends well and you dont need a lot of the foundation. I found that it did cake on a dry spot on my nose. I thought i put enough moisture on my face before my foundation lol but i guess not. I think it evened out my skin pretty darn good and even covered some blemishes i had. Overall i would recommend this product to my girlfriend's.
I read through the list of ingredients (chemicals) and was not impressed***. Surely with all the money Maybelline spends on research they could find natural, safe ingredients that work just as well. I'm also disgusted that this company STILL TESTS ON ANIMALS. No matter how nicely they package their products, it's still horrible knowing the pain and suffering that is inflicted.***
