This foundation is great. I have a very uneven completion and this foundation covered all of my imperfections perfectly without making my make up look to heavy! This paired with the matching sponge blender are the perfect tools for someone looking to even out their skin while keeping a natal look!
I received this product for free in exchange of my rewiew.
I love the packaging! I received the ivory shade and it is a bit orangey for my skin.
The texture is very nice and it doesn't have a smell. It has a gel like texture, a little goes a long way! It does have a velvety finish which i enjoyed. The coverage is light but buildable. I did not use a primer at first and found that it lasted about six hours, but with primer i would say around 8-10 hours. I did have to set it with powder, but i always do because of the oily t-zone.
I have combination skin and where my skin is dryer, the foundation makes it look flakey..it is better suited for oily skin. As for the sponge, it did not like it at all..the handle is too long and the sponge too hard even if wet. It was easier applying with fingers.
Overall, i liked the product and think i will like it even more in summer!
I've gone through many different foundations. This one is by far the most smooth and velvet is good name for it! I love the packaging - big fan of tube foundations. The product itself is a fantastic consistency. Coverage is very light and a bit on the sheer side. I have fair skin with pink/cool undertones so I got the ivory version. It's definitely geared towards the warm undertone chicks as this comes off as too orange for my face.
That being said, I love the consistency and the packaging. Excellent step in the right direction from Maybelline.
I am really on the fence with this foundation. I love the mousse-like texture and I like that it is in a tube. The coverage is a little on the light side but it is buildable. I used a beauty sponge (not the one that Maybelline makes), a brush, and fingers, but I find the application patchy with any method. It can cling to dry spots and it just doesn't last very long at all, even with powder. I have combination skin so it clings to the dry places and melts away in the oily places.
I was selected to try Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation as part of the Chickadvisor Review Club. I am pretty picky about my foundation and usually stick to a powder face base after a light BB cream, I was excited to try a bit more full coverage foundation! The Dream Velvet foundation applied fairly smoothly and blended in quite nicely. One thing I was a bit disappointed in, I had specifically chosen a tone that looked to have yellow undertones - and unfortunately it arrived and was still pink. As a red head with pale, pinkish skin I had to do a bit of colour correcting with powder and wasn't a huge fan of that. Overall, the price is on point, the quality is great and it does cover well. I would recommend it.
I recieved this for free for reviewing purposes. The foundation did oxide a bit, but overall the coverage was amazing! I have acne which it covered up with one layer, using a brush, with the blender it took 2 layers. It is an expensive foundation comparable to other drugstore foundations, but you get your moneys worth, and a little bit goes a long way.
I received this in order to review it and I am so happy I got to try this product!
The foundation has excellent coverage, and was easy to apply. It lasts well and looks natural on my skin (I have the ivory colour). It looks great on it's own, or if you are a fan of contouring this foundation would be excellent to use if you have a few shades of it. I think it maintains a fairly natural appearance while still covering any marks (I have a couple acne scars), so your skin looks like it is naturally flawless. It also only required a small amount to cover my whole face, and didn't need powder to set it. My skin is not very oily, but I would recommend if you have oily skin to use it sparingly as I think if my skin was oily it may require some powder to set.
I definitely recommend giving this a shot!
I received this foundation from as part of the product review club from Chick Advisor. I was very happy with this foundation. I have oily skin, so I usually go for a matte finish. Since it is winter right now, I have also been reaching for hydrating foundations, so this formula is great for me. I really like the texture.. it is thick, but gel-like so it doesn't feel heavy. The first time I applied this I was surprised at how well it filled in my pores. It gives a very smooth finish. I did have to touch up after about 5 hours, but for me that is completely normal and doesn't bother me (again, I have oily skin). The colour is a tad bit too orange (I received the Ivory shade), but if I mix it with a lighter foundation it works fine. I think this product is a great for a drugstore foundation.
I love loved the formula on this dream foundation! Coverage was excellent, but didn't feel too heavy on my face. I found it to be moisturizing and just matte enough to allow for some natural glow to peek through.
I received Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation from Chickadvisor in order to review it. I am so happy with his product. I have combination skin, so some dry parts and some very oily. This foundation applies like a dream. I don't need any primer because it has a very smooth and silky texture. The classic ivory shade is a perfect match for my skin. I have fine lines around my eyes and on forehead, and did not notice any settling of the product. It absolutely stayed where I put it. I've tried applying with the Maybelline blender and with my fingers, and I much prefer application with my fingers. I feel that the warmth of my hands helped get the foundation exactly where I needed it. Also, I have many acne scars, I feel they are nicely hidden using this foundation.
