Started using gel eyeliner a few months ago because I didn't like the look of pencil and liquid line looked too harsh for daytime eye make-up. I didn't want to spend too much on a product I was just trying out because I didn't want to waste my money on something I would end up hating.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner, the tiny tub of black has lasted me over 4 months now and it hasn't dried out or started to flake on my eyes. The results I am able to get with the gel and the brush are great - I can create subtle lines or more dramatic looks depending on the day and I never have to worry about it smudging or melting off.

In my opinion this product can compete with some of the higher priced brands like MAC (which I tried recently) so I'm happy to find it at drug stores for less than $15.

They slide on so smoothly, have GREAT pigmentation and come in great colours. Black, brown, purple and blue.. the perfect liner shades.

The lasting properties are incredible, literally 24 hours (literally because I have not tested it, but I'm sure it can). Once, I swatched the colours on my hand before school. Throughout a normal day I wash, touch and sit on my hands (it's cold) and when I got home, the swatches have not BUDGED! After a long school day my lids get a little oily and it's great to see that my liner still looks great and no raccoon eyes!
After the Gel Liners dry, they're basically impervious to water, sweat and tears. You can rub it as hard as you can but it will not move on your skin.

I'm not sure how waterproof it is, I haven't tested that yet, but I ran my swatches through water and rubbed and they stayed intact.

Sadly, the Gel Liners don't deliver on the 'intense drama' that the website states. I'm not sure why the product is called Lasting Drama because Gel Liners appear quite subtle compared to M.A.C. and Bobbi Brown liners. Those looking for a BOLDBOLD look may not be completely satisfied with this, as they might find it too faint for their liking. Gel Liners can be built up, however.
I'm pleased with this product and love that the colour is not so loud because I can use it for an everyday look.

Fantastic product from the new Maybelline Eyestudio line. Colour payoff is amazing and staying power is incredible. The colour is more subtle than bold, and is suitable for an everyday look. I would recommend and definitely purchase again.

I bought this eyeliner over the weekend after I saw some girl doing a makeup tutorial with it on youtube. I didn't believe the smudge proof part so i painted some on my wrist and surprise surprise, it smudge to a certain extent. So now the real world test. First I curled my lashes, put on the mascara, let it dry and proceeded to paint on the eyeliner. It was a very smooth application but I needed to add more to the brush as I extended towards the ends of my eyes. I found out it wasn't a cry proof, but my mascara was. This eyeliner is not what it says, ie. waterproof and smudgeproof - NOT. BUT it is an average eyeliner and it works like any other manual eyeliner application, as long as you don't cry and don't rub your eyes.. you're good to go.

This product is amazing! It is now my go-to eye liner, and everyone I have told about it loves it as well! The only time I use a stick liner now is for my lower waterline.

Application is very smooth, and you have a lot of control over the line (the brush makes it easy to achieve the shape, thickness, and "darkness" that you desire). Surprisingly, the brush is great for everyday use! However, when I am trying to achieve a really dark line, I will use a firmer, angled brush (the one they provide is very soft) and I get a nice dark line (almost like liquid liner).

The other thing is that you need so little! That small jar will last you forever. I usually need another eye liner every few months (I usually use a retractable stick format), but with this liner it seems like it will last forever! I'd say it's last for at least 5x longer than the stick format - so that's great value for your money!

The only drawback is that it does smudge, so if you draw a thick line I find it smudges a bit over your lids. However, if you set it with dark eye shadow it also helps it last longer and not smudge. The other great thing is that with the brush, I am able to get the colour closer to my lash line.

Overall, it is a great product!!

HOMG. These are the bomb. These are the first gel liners that I have tried and I am liking them to death! They are so smooth to apply on and a little but goes a long way. They even come with their own brushes! =] The colors they came in are Blackest Black, Charcoal ( black with a hint of shimmer ), Brown and Eggplant.

They claim to be SMUDGE PROOF, but based on my experience, they arent. Well maybe its because I dont set it with eyeshadow. I would probably try the gel liner and setting it with eyeshadow one of these days and see if they smudge or not. The smudge itself is minimal, so no biggie for me. Also, they claim to be WATERPROOF, but again, they’re NOT. One wash and almost all the makeup is gone.

But even though its not smudgeproof or waterproof, I still genuinely love it! I now wear this everyday when I go out and since its not waterproof, I dont have to scratch my eyes out to get the makeup off. Also, it does not irritate my eyes! Another like! =]

Would I repurchase? YES YES YES. Loveeee it! My favorites are the Blackest Black during the day and Charcoal during the night.

I received the entire eye studio from Maybelline to review on my blog and this is one of my favorite products in the collection, this was the 1st gel liner I have used and it's so easy to use I thought it was going to be difficult but it's not, it's just like using a pencil, it stays on all day long, nicely pigmented and the brush that it comes with is great

I have used liquid eyeliners for as long as I can remember, so when I heard that Maybelline was coming out with a gel liner I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. It comes in a small glass jar with a brush. If you're not one to use liquid eye liners don't let this deter you. It's very easy to apply. You just dab the tip of your brush into the gel and make small strokes gliding along the lash line, it's not as messy as liquid liners. The colour is intense and easy to alter, depending on whether you like it smoky or crisp. The only problem I have with this product is that it does smudge a bit; the colour of the liner tends to come off at the top of my lid, guess it happens when I look up. Trying to find a solution for that because it's a good product and I don't want to stop using it.

I have to say, when I saw these little pots of gel eyeliner I was pretty skeptical.
How would I be able to apply this without completely ruining my makeup?
How would I get a really dramatic line? How long would it last?

Well, let me tell you...I was floored by this product.
It took a little time to get the hang of the brush...but after that, I was experimenting with all the various ways I could bring more drama to my lids. This product was perfect for both day and night, not only because of the staying power (although that is incredible!)...but because I could use more product or less product and simply layer to get the definition I wanted.

I normally wear liquid liner (which, let's face it..can get gloopy and tough to paint on)...but this is almost like a really creamy stick mashed up in a pot with a brush to apply with the lasting quality of a liquid.
In short...perfection.

I was pleasantly surprised by this product! I thought the brush that came with it might have been crap but if you keep it clean it really lasts and works well, The product itself goes on very smoothly, doesn't smudge and lasted quite a while. The container didnt dry out either which was another worry that I had. Overall I was very impressed and will buy this again!

I really enjoy using this eyeliner. It glides on easily. Melts with your body heat so it's a very smooth application that is simple to use. The brush is soft and great for getting in the corners I even use it to get a nice cat tip. I really enjoy this product I just wish that it was a lil more smudge proof. Other than that I love it and would recommend it.
