I received this product as a gift from a friend. I decided to try it in lieu of my usual powder makeup and found the results to be quite disappointing. The powder leaves a cakey appearance and resulted in an unwanted skin breakout/irritation. I've read a lot of information on mineral makeups recently and have come to the conclusions that perhaps they are not for me. On the upside, if your skin is not of the sensitive type, this product is an affordable alternative to higher end mineral cosmetics!
Great coverage, I'm trying this is the winter when my oily combo skin is at it's worst...so I'm trying to be as fair as possible. It goes on very well, I'm impressed with that part. I find it's not good for my skin in the winter, I think I'll love it in the summer. Stay tuned!
I dislike the Maybelline brand mineral makeup. It made my skin greasy and very shiny and I have normal complexion. My sister started to break out and went to her dermatologist. She discovered that the chemicals in the store bought brand was the cause. Yes even natural is chemical, everything has chemical properties just some are better than others eg. nature vs. man made. It comes off consistently as if theres no end in sight. The colors are alittle better then some of the other brands eg. Bare Essentials Bare Minerals. The colors are too yellow or too pink for minorities or women of mixed race. Its Maybelline mineral makeup: that reads (first listed ingriedent) is GLASS if you pick the transulcent. Finale thought: I had received this from a friend who had purchased the wrong color. I told her I hated this stuff and throw it out of course so did my sister. Shes going back to Estee Lauder and doesn't like any mineral makeup out in the market. She says the spray air makeup like in the commericals is the hot item not mineral anymore.

It gave some of my friends and myself a orange or too yellow color to our face. Hopefully you don't have very pale, olive, mixed race, or very dark skin, or else you will be disappointed.
I'm with McKchick - I wasn't too impressed with this product. After putting on concealer, foundation, and blush, this finshing veil felt very heavy. I generally wear all the above on a daily basis but I wouldn't add this product to my regime. I went with "light" and the colouring was too light compared to all the similar shade makeup in the line. I also didn't like the sponge applicator - too much product dispensed so hard to control how much you want to use.
This on its own is not bad. Handy for a mid-day touch up but I really don't need something else to carry around on a daily basis. So in my books, not something I'll use regularly and non essential.
I really wasn't crazy about this powder. I found that it goes on much thicker than most pressed powders. As a finishing touch over foundation it was WAY too much, making my face look cakey and make-upy. On its own it was ok, somewhere between a regular powder and a foundation, which could be good if that's what you're looking for I guess. I probably won't use much of this product and won't buy it again.
I definitely enjoyed using the Finish Veil. Not only did it provide a matte finish, it actually lasted all day (I didn't have to touch up once). Mind you, I have dry/combination skin and you would think "cake face"... nope, the finish was very natural.
I tried it without foundation; very subtle coverage, great for those quick pick me ups and out the door thing
With foundation: the Veil did not feel like it was adding weight to my face... plus my pores actually looked smaller :)
The packaging is like any standard pressed powder; great mirror but the sponge can be improved. Use it with a large powder brush and colour will blend in more consistently.
The only thing misleading is the shade. I opted for a medium and it was actually lighter than my skin. My advice: go a shade darker, especially with the approach of warm weather.
I agree with Artist, this product works well in combination with Maybelline Powder Foundation. On it's own I felt that it gave me a matted non shiny look but that it did not last as long as other powder products I have used in the past. I was very impressed with the packaging as it is very compact, convenient and neat. I would use this product again but only if I were using it in combination with the other products.
I am a big fan of finishing powder as I think it lightly evens out my complexion while also taking care of any oil problems which can crop up in my T-zone. I chose the “light” shade and found it a bit whiter than I would normally use. By applying it lightly over top of the rest of my make-up I could achieve a more “flawless” look. It didn't feel heavy at all and had pretty good staying power. The packaging was really cool too – the bottom part slides out to reveal the sponge and mirror!
I ended up choosing the bronzer because I rarely ever do an entire make-up routine and I really didnt think I would use the finishing powder. This step was really probably the most disappointing in the whole line. First of all, they only had one shade of bronzer which should have tipped me off in the first place. It was really too dark and unnatural looking on my skin which is still moderately light from being inside the whole winter. I also found it to be WAY too thick when applied with the provided foam applicator. I even tried to use it VERY sparingly and it was still way too much. I found the rest of the line to be very light and seamless, and this step i think almost ruined the whole look. it was a LITTLE bit better with a brush, but I really dont know that I will be using it much unless I get a lot more tanned...
On the plus side, the package was super cute :)
I found the final step in the Maybelline mineral line a bit heavy. It did help to provide an overall flawless look and cover up blemishes, but after all steps were completed I thought it made my face look very "made up" and not so natural. I recommend using a powder brush and not the foam pad that comes with the veil, it helped to take away some of the heaviness.
