There are 2 reasons why I hadn't jumped on the vibrating mascaras' bandwagon: 1) it seemed like all hype to me - a marketing gimmick, and 2) I doubt that it would eclipse my ultimate go-to mascara Diorshow.
After receiving the Pulse Perfection from Maybelline for the Product Review Club, I found this product confirmed my first 2 apprehensions towards vibrating mascaras. I just don't get the point of having a mascara wand pulsing while I apply it - are we really so lazy we can't zigzag the wand ourselves? I found the technology was utterly useless in delivering 'extra-special' lashes - which I would expect from a drugstore brand mascara that costs $19 CAN. Sure it's not as expensive as other vibrating mascaras (which I haven't used) but at that price I expect it to do more than just give me a 'natural' look. I like my lashes voluminous with a noticeable increase in length in comparison to my normally skimpy lashes, but the only noticeable difference seemed to be slightly darker lashes (although my lashes are already black to begin with), slight clumping with negligible lengthening. If you want a natural look I suggest using much cheaper mascaras that work alot better than this one. Overall I find this just doesn't deliver. I don't mind spending a bit more for mascara, but if I do, it better be amazing, and trust me, this does not come even close to Diorshow.

    Ready. Set. Captivate.

This is the tagline for Maybelline New York Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara and no other words could describe it better. This Maybelline vibrating mascara comes at a much lower price than it's Lancome sister and it's effectiveness and quality make it a great buy! The 7000 vibrations a minute are subtle enough to create the perfect wand movements without creating clumps. By moving your hand at a steady pace, not going too fast or too slow, product is distributed evenly on every lash*, thickening your lashes and creating infinite length. The packaging is sleek and decorated with a golden design. The button you hold to activate the vibrations is comfortable and allows your hand to hold the button while moving the wand without causing pain to the hand.

Great daytime mascara... seemed a bit gimmicky at first but this has become my standby mascara for the day. Habits are hard to break so getting used to using this mascara will be hard at first. I would probably buy this again.. unless something more interesting comes out.

    WHAT'S ADVERTISED

The new Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara engages in the new high tech battle field of vibrating mascaras. The product purportedly has 7000 vibrations per minute, which help to "transform your lashes to perfection".

    Details:

    * Patent-pending elastomer brush vibrates 7,000 times per stroke
    * Provides clump-free definition, intense color, and shine
    * Waterproof; also available in washable formula
    * Builds lash volume, length, and adds curl
    * Buildable formula
    * Ideal for All Skin Types
    * Contact lens safe

    FOR BEST RESULTS:
Step 1: On the mascara cap, pull plastic tab to remove it completely, then discard.

Step 2: Press the button to activate pulsation. Release the button to stop.

Step 3: While pressing the button, place brush at base of lashes and move slowly towards lash tip. Continue applying coats to achieve preferred lash look.

    THE REAL SCOOP

There are only so many iterations and technological advances in the mascara/wand combination, so a new gimmick was introduced in the market within the past year: vibrating mascaras. Within the past year, we have seen Estée Lauder release TurboLash, followed shortly by Lancôme launch of Ôscillation and more recently, Prescriptives came out with Motor-Eyes.

This Maybelline product takes the innovation from these brands and brings it to a mass market drug store price point, and the end result is competitive enough against these other products that it is an intriguing buy. Although many will balk at the $15 price point for a Maybelline mascara, this is quite a bit less than the department store brands and perhaps a worthy foray into realm of the vibrating mascaras.

This product does not add a lot of outstanding volume or length, but it does a good job in creating natural enhancements to your lashes for a daytime look. WIth the new vibrating technology, if you follow the directions for "best results" (ie move slowly, resist the urge to wiggle the wand and let the vibrations do the job for you) you will be able to achieve a "double coat" look in a relatively short period of time during your first go.

This is definitely a product for a natural day look. For myself, with my skimpy lashes I need a bit more to add "oomph" to my eyes. There are a lot of products out there that can accomplish the same results that this mascara can, for the same or less money, however it does save a marginal bit of time for those who are in a rush and can't wait to do the second or third coat.

I got this product through the review club and really enjoyed the mascara.

To give you some background on my lashes, they are very sparse and short so I need all the help I can get! I generally find "cheaper" mascaras to flake and not last through the day, not to mention not excentuate my lashes. My usual mascara is $25 plus so a less expensive mascara would be a great alternative.

I really liked the vibrating feature so I didn't have to wiggle the wand manually. This made application quicker. I could get 2 coats on back to back and without a mess. My lashes looked longer and thicker. No flaking evey after being out all day. I guess one feature I would have loved for this mascara would be for it to also curl my lashes but I guess it can't do everything so using a curler beforehand opens my eyes up nicely.

I will continue to use this mascara and definitely will consider purchasing it in the future.

I was a bit disappointed with this product as I had expected more from it. I"m not sure how much help the vibration does as it does not seem to work as effectively as the regular ones I have. It did lengthen but not to any out of ordinary length that a regular mascara wouldn't be able to achieve. It also does provide thickness although the thickness made it clumped up easily. Overall, I have used better ones.

I was very skeptical about this mascara. Really, does my mascara wand need to vibrate to be effective? I've tried vibrating razors before and wasn't impressed.

The product itself is a bit finicky to use. The button to start it up is at the end of the wand which is an ackward place to hold it. And you need to hold the button down while applying the mascara.

I've been using this mascara for about a week and it does make my eyelashes look great. No real clumping, very long. Goes on very smooth. I have noticed that it flakes off a bit by the end of the day, but that's after working 8 hours than being at the gym for an hour.

I'm not sure if it's the mascara formula, or the vibrating wand but this is definlently a decent mascara. I probably wouldn't pay the extra price (close to $20) for it though.

    Thanks chickadvisor for this product!
I'm somewhat of a mascara conoseur! I always enjoy buying the newest mascaras to hit the market. So I've tried a lot of them.

This pulsing mascara was the first one i'd tried with a battery! At first I was kind of intimidated, but seriously the application was EASY! I have to admit I did poke my eye for the first 2 times I used it. I would definately recommend this to a friend, because it is just as simple to apply(if not easier) than the traditional mascaras

My eyelashed looked pretty good. I got some length, some volume. It was a good all around mascara for me. It didnt really make me go WOW or anything, but its a good product, and works just as well as any other mascara.

I’ll admit it. I married my husband because of his long, curly, luscious lashes. If I couldn’t have them, well at least one day my kids might. I’m mostly kidding, but as destiny would have it, I’m the only one in the household without a decent pair of eyelashes.

So you’ve got this woman who’s been blessed with spindly eyelashes resembling stubby spider legs that have been flat-ironed … and she’s given the opportunity to try out a new mascara. Can you say jump, and how high?

We’re talking about the Maybelline: New York Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara. Yes, VIBRATING!

I don’t wear mascara on a daily basis, usually just keeping it for special occasions. This stems from my contact lens wearing days, when I found most mascaras irritating. But now that I wear my glasses most of the time, and I’ve been told that my eyes are my best feature, it’s probably about time that I wore mascara for more definition. I’ve tried several in the past; and heck, I even own a battery operated eye-lash curling iron.

So I gave it a try. There’s a little tab where you hold the wand that once depressed, sends the wand vibrating. Putting it at the base of my lashes, and not moving it along too quickly to the tips, I did notice it clumped a bit. Likely because I was moving it too slowly. So I picked up the pace a bit, and was pleasantly surprised at how it lengthened and did make the lashes thicker, curling them at the end a bit as well.

The trick is not to apply too many coats, as the vibrating action surrounds your whole lash. But also don’t go too slowly as this causes clumps. The instructions on the packaging are quite good. It is really quite simple to use, and I especially noticed the difference on my lower lashes, which I find the most difficult or application to begin with. They were easily handled by this product. And although this wasn’t a waterproof product, it was quite long-lasting. For that reason, it took a little more makeup remover to take off at the end of the day.

So overall I did like this mascara. The vibrating wand may seem a bit gimmicky, but it does appear to work on building up the lash. I would likely buy it again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others to try.

I have lusted over the pricier versions of vibrating mascara for months, and prepared to shell out the money. I actually squealed when I found Pulse Perfection. Even without the vibration, it's a great mascara for dramatic lashes. The pulsing adds to the effect and adds some novelty, too! I would definitely get the Very Black next time, because the Blackest Black is probably too intense for daytime. Overall, this is a great alternative to Lancome and other department store brands.
