McCaubs smikeys are awesome especially when you cook them just right and they turn a beautiful golden brown in the oven, plus they are smileys who doesn't love smileys they are so fun! Then you add bacon!!! Who doesn't love bacon :) I personally love fruits and veggies so the crisp fresh lettuce and a slice of tomato just adds to the yummyness. I however hate mayonnaise!!! YUCK! I wouldn't pit mayonnaise on this if my life depended on it. However when baking the smileys is sprinkle cheese on top and let it melt as they bake in the oven and I'd cook the bacon with a little bullseye barbecue sauce and put a drisle of Italian dressing in between the lettuce and tomato! Tasty!
The first review I had finished writing and was about to post was deleted when my cat decided to walk across my laptop. Here's Take Two on my review. I had everything prepped for my home daycare children to make today. Every had a plate of potential toppings and dips, and everyone made their own. It was a big hit with everyone to be so hands-on and involved in the process. The smiles were fun and everyone had a blast. We will definitely be making these again.
These were a great idea and fun to make but they were a bit hard to eat and not quite worth the trouble from my perspective. I would maybe try to customize it and do another try !
I love the McCain Smiles BLT Mini Sandwiches combination its taste great its crunches in your mouth that you take a bite out of the McCain Smiles BLT Mini Sandwiches, the texture its great in all together.
Oh these look so yummy.
I can think that there are several different way you can customize these.
I saw this recipe, and thought- what a great idea for someone who is on a gluten free diet!
My nephew and my best friend have to be super careful about the wheat in their diets, so having them over for dinner can be a challenge- and really expensive when you factor int he cost of spcial buns, bread, etc. for them.
Since my nephew is also "allergic" to things that even look like veggies, I made them "custom" My friend just had a bout of diverculititus (not sure of the spelling- but basically, a tear in the intestine that has to heal by limiting fibre in the diet for a while)
I left off the lettuce and tomatoe, and made them with a slice of cheese and pea-meal bacon ( pre-cooked, and trimmed to fit) They were a hit- like little mini sliders! The cheese melted beautifully , holding them together.
Can't wait to try with different ingredients..
These were a great idea and fun to make, but probably will only be a one time thing. They were kinda hard to eat and not quite worth the trouble aha. But they were fun!
These are such a fun supper idea for the kids. I made these before with bacon and lettuce for my husband and I. Next time I am going to add the tomatoe!
This is such a creative and fun meal my kid had fun eating his and it gives me so much pleasure seeing him eating so peacefully and healthy
