I absolutely loved this book, and would strongly recommend it to anyone. Read before you watch the movie because in my opinion the movie is completely another review and score. Once you read the first page you wont want to put it down but you wont want it to end either. A great read!
Love, love, loved this book. i am a big fan of historical fiction and this is at the top of that list. What a wonderful story. What an unbelievable story. I learned so much about japanese culture. Truly a "must read".
This is such a unique, timeless book, definitely a must read! The relationship between Sayuri and her nemesis Hatsumomo is so fascinating, what every female must be able to relate to. Memoirs of a Geisha is one of the very few novels that I will happily read again.
Very well written book. I saw the movie after I read the book and as always the book was really 100 times better.
This book is a beautiful, sad, rich story that trace the life of a girl from poor fishing village through her transformation into a geisha. The movie did do the book justice
It's been a few years since I read this book but I LOVED IT!! I remember not being able (or not wanting) to put it down and also being impressed that it was written by a man. The descriptions are so amazing and beautiful that you can almost picture yourself as part of the story. It is a definite must-read novel and one of my top 10!!
This fiction novel is about how a young girl became well known geisha. It's romantic, sad, descriptive, beautiful and well-written. You will not want to put this book down. =D The movie does not do this book justice.
its hard to come to terms with the fact that its fiction...did anyone else find themselves enthralled with finding the ink painting on google?! ..no? only me? well incase your wondering now, it too is fictional. breaks your 'geisha wannabe' heart doesnt it
I also enjoyed this book. The writing is detailed without being wordy and vibrantly descriptive. I was fascinated about the subject matter and it feels authentic, like the author did his homework well. The characters are well developed and the plot moves along quickly enough that it will keep you reading into the wee hours.
