I read this book in my early twenties, and it was really good! A light read about how different men and women are from each other, and how to understand and communicate with one another.
I used to love reading self-help books and this was one of the first relationship self-help books which I have read.
I find the information to be very useful. It really did help me understand differences between a man and a women. I still use some of the advice in this book with my marriage and they do work.
When he explained about how a man is like a rubber band - that is probably the best advice I've ever heard. It is so true! Even when I was dating, I find that most men do that. They would pull away all of a sudden out of no where and it used to make me feel so insecure like something is wrong. (because women do that when something is wrong) Men just do that when when they need some space and their emotions tank is filled up high. When my husband pulls away, I realize that's just the way it is and let him be. Then it's fine afterwards. Before I used to get into fights with ex boyfriends and etc because I would get insecure. But thanks to the advice in this book, there's no need to be insecure. I just do my own thing when I see signs of that.
This book does drag on in the later chapters. It was a good book to read to relate to the opposite sex. I would recommend for both men and women to read. It is an easy read, so worth the while.
lorsque j'ai lu le livre j'ai compri beaucoup de choses sur le comportements des hommes et meme des femmes, je me suis reconnu et j;ai beaucoup appri
This is the one relationship self-help book I've read all the way through, kept, and still recommend to anyone! It explores the differences between the sexes and how it affects our communication.
The premise is that men and women are so different, they may as well be from different planets. Often, we end up in fights with someone of the opposite sex and if you get right down to it, it is about a simple miscommunication. This book explains how men and women think and react in conversation (or lack thereof!), and how we can effectively converse without accidentally giving offense or sending the wrong message. Read it alone, with your sig. other, or in a book club - there is a lot of food for thought.
The book makes some huge generalizations and much of the advice is common sense. However, I find that the stereotypes described will force you to think about how you may represent some of those generalizations and where your assumptions are leading you into miscommunication. The style is very readable and without the psychobabble you might see in other books.
Don't think of it as only for couples - you'll understand all your family and friends better when you've read this book and can see a little Martian or Venusian in their characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone!
