I received Moonlite to try for free for my honest review. This is a very cool item and my kids absolutely loved it and I love the options that are available for the different stories
Somewhat awkward!
I think this is a cute and different idea however I think I prefer old fashioned books. I found the Moonlite projector to be a bit difficult to use. Trying to hold my phone, turn the wheel, swipe the page, read the story all while try to keep the image still on the ceiling was a bit much. My almost 4yo seemed disinterested and my almost 1yo doesn’t have the attention span yet. Also at 7.99 a story I don’t see us buying to many more.
It turned out okay
We were so excited to get our Moonlite Starter Pack that we received for free through Family Rated. It contained the Moonlite projector kit and 2 books to get started- The Hungry Caterpillar and 10 Little Ducks. The information in the pack guided us to the iphone app that needed to be installed to read the stories. The set-up was super simple and we were ready to start our first book. The words appear on the phone screen while the image is displayed on a wall or other surface. Music plays in the background and select words can be clicked for sound effect. The process of reading ended up being a bit of a hassle in my opinion. I had to read the screen, talking over the music, click the words if I wanted to activate the sound effects, swipe the screen to go to the next page, as well as turn the picture disc in the projector. It ended up being slightly overwhelming. Overall it was a fun device, just not something I want to use every night unfortunately.
Great for the kiddos
After downloading the app and putting Moonlite to use several times, I can honestly say it's a hit. It was a little hard lining up the eye with my Samsung Galaxy S9 but I was able to get it after a few tries. Once on the projection works pretty well. When you follow the app it's just adorable. The words come on your phone and there's music as well. It reminds me of another toy I myself had when I was little. It's a great concept and my son truly enjoyed it.
Has some flaws
The idea behind this is great, but it really didn’t work that well. The projection is small, you have to hold your phone at a weird angle in order to see it on the ceiling, but then it’s hard to read and the picture is moving all over the place. The sound effects could have been a cute touch but the sounds were all strange. The individual stories were overpriced in my opinion as well. I probably would not purchase this item.
I would buy this again
I really enjoyed reading this to my daughters. Moon lite is so cute and easy to set up. It provides a different experience for bed time story telling. I will buying more stories for sure. #gotitfree
What a great way to keep kids interested!
So, I have 4 kids all different ages and we got one of my favorite books to read them to try... The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I was interested in seeing how they reacted to the new way of "reading" it. I can say that the youngest who is only 1 would get so excited. That causes a problem though because when you go to change the picture it didn't want to stay in place all the time causing me to have to refocus the picture. When it comes to the older kids they loved the sound effects which I am not as good as this it seems that goes with the key words in the story. It's like a modern day view finder come to life. I would definitely recommend this for smaller ones as a way to get them to listen to you read stories to them and get them into a bedtime routine. Maybe a good baby shower or 1st birthday present. We actually just went to the Moonlight website and ordered 2 new stories for $7.99 each (about the cost of a hardback book at Walmart) of Goodnight Moon and Curious George. I am excited to see if they are just as excited for them!
Not that great!
We tried this out thanks to Family rated. It came with two stories (the hungry caterpillar and a story about a duck). It was hard to see the pictures and I felt like it could of been more clear. Trying to turn the wheel would easiley fall off the phone or I would have to line it up with the phone light again. I just felt like this isn't worth the time or the money. I don't recommend it. I think It's a cute Idea but it could of been better. Also I wish the app read the book out loud because my 3 year old son wanted to hold the phone at all times so It made it harder for me to read him the story
A great addition to story time!
This Moonlite Junior starter pack is amazing! Easy to set up and the projector works fantastically! It’s great how you can adjust the focus too. It comes with two books and my daughter has had me reread them so much I’m sure she has the stories memorized! You can purchase books on the app but I recommend purchasing more reels otherwise you won’t be able to project the pictures for the story. This one came with The Very Hungry Caterpillar and 10 Little Rubber Ducks, so the stories are classics and not some generic stories. I do wish it had audio instead of having to read the story on your phone screen and it is a little inconvenient to click next page on the screen and turn the reel at the same time. However, my 2 year old and my two older kids are obsessed with it! I am glad I was chosen to try this product for free and I will defiantly be buying some more books for this Moonlite projector and recommending to friends and family!
Brilliant!
We were SO EXCITED to get to test out Moonlite for free thanks to FamilyRated in exchange for our honest review! We had actually never seen or heard of Moonlite before, but once we found out about it, we couldn't wait! The set we received was the Moonlite Junior Starter set which contains the Moonlite projector and two Eric Carle story reels- The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Ten Little Rubber Ducks. We had to download the Moonlite app and upload the books by entering the included code. It was easy to place the projector onto my phone, insert a story reel and after a quick twist of the lens on the front of the projector, the book was ready to go! The books were exciting and include 3 different background music choices and even have fun sound effects that really bring the stories to life! My girls absolutely loved these and I really enjoyed them too! I think they are a wonderful addition to story time. It's really exciting being able to see the stories projected onto your walls or ceilings! We actually loved the idea so much, we've already bought 9 addition books! Any way to get your kids more excited about reading is a great idea, if you ask me!
