Alexx Calise's album really rocks! I listened to the 2 tracks available on her myspace page and I wasn't immediately sold. But once I got the cd and listened through it a few times, I was really diggin' her sound. I found myself humming her catchy tunes at the gym and even in meetings at work. Her sound strikes me as similar two to artists. Her raw voice and lyrics remind me of Ani DiFranco -- so much so that I dug out my old Ani cd and am listening to it right now! Alexx's sound and energy also reminds me of an edgier Gwen Stefani, when she did a bit more rock stuff (and less of the tech/pop sound). Alexx combines a lot of different tempos and sounds throughout the album. My favorite tracks are "Give it to Me" and "Falling". And one of the best features of Alexx's is that I can hear and understand all of her lyrics -- she pronounces (unlike some singers). Overall, its a great album! You should get it -- support our fellow chickies!!
