Pro-Prime™ Pore Refining Primer - Oil-Free review is based on sample.
i did look up the price as i do like this product...but i dont like it enough to shell out over $30 for a tiny tube.
i used this both under make up and just as a pore refiner. i first tested this without makeup. normally, by midday, my t-zone will shine. but, with an application of this over a span of a week, i was quite happy with the results. my t-zone would be matte for an entire day!!
nothing spectacular about it as a makeup primer.
I wanted to love this product when I was still convinced I needed a primer, which I don't and most women don't, but found it just did nothing for me. Thank god I had recieved a free tube of it at the NARS counter to take home and try before I lost my mind and wasted a pile of money on it. Yes, it's priced similar and even lower than other primers, so I'd have to give it an average rating on that point.
While I didn't find it had a bad smell, and it wasn't all greasy like silicone primers, I also didn't find that it did anything for me. My foundation doesn't look any beter with it on, and it doesn't really improve staying power at all, which I've never had a problem with anyways, and it doesn't make my face have any less oil breakthrough. It makes no difference whether I use it under liquid or mineral foundation, the lack of results is the same. Then again, I haven't yet tried it under my NARS foundation. So I will have to give it one more shot, I suppose. I don't use much liquid foundation, however, so I don't think it'll be of much use to me. Probably no point in purchasing the full size at all.
Nice texture, no fragrance, no bad smell, no synthetic colors, best quality primer I have come across so far, but not worth it for what it has done for me to date. Can't say I would recommend this product to anybody, as much as I like some of NARS' products.
Over the last year I have been testing and experimenting with a few different makeup primers (because I am a girl who hates retouching her make up throughout the day!). Anyways, I originally started off with the smashbox photo finish primer, and I initially loved it ( I was naive). But as my skin became dryer during the winter months I started on the quest of finding another primer that had NO silicone in it. That is when I found the nars primer. I find it works amazingly. I love the smell and the texture of it. It is a little bit expensive, but what primer isn't these days? NARs also claims there are skin enhancing ingredients in it, but who really knows. If it improves my skin, its an added bonus
I find the primer works amazingly with the NARs sheer glow foundation (which is my fav), and makes my skin look healthy.
I would definitely recommend this is to anyone who wants to move away from the silicone based primer.
This is probably going to be the most negative review ever!
The nars primer was a purchase I made because I was getting my makeup done at a nars counter and had to spend 50$ or more to get it done. I decided on the primer & a lipgloss. Within the first few days I took the primer home I started using it very excited to finally have something from the nars comapny. But, to my horror I began to break out immensely and was plagued with a gross oily feeling to my skin after application. I have very sensitive skin and am very fair, which usually is the main reason why products do this to my skin. BUT, I had my friend try the product as well ( non-acne prone, not oily or sensitive ) and she had the same outcome! My makeup would come off almost instantly and was not held on or extended in anyway by the nars primer. The formula smells terrible ( as do most nars products ) and it is extremely watery. I was terribly disappointed in the outcome of the nars primer and definitely will not be repurchasing!
