Best Foundation from NARS thus far
I have tried pretty much every NARS foundation before this formula. All Day Luminous was an absolute disaster on my skin as it creased in every line on my face (and I'm in my 20s!), Sheer Glow wasn't too bad but it definitely was not glowy, more satin/soft matte if anything. Sheer Matte (I believe that's what it was called before it got discontinued) was also just an OKAY formula. You would think since NARS is so high end and has pricey foundations that they would be worth the money but up until this formula was released I felt like they were so over priced.
With this new formula NARS had extended their shade range especially for the tan to deep shades which is very important to me as I am a woman of colour with a deep tan complexion. I know that NARS has always been relatively good when it came to their shade range but I really can appreciate the expansion with this new formula.
Here's the break down on this foundation:
Pros:
-Full coverage without the cake
-Lightweight/comfortable to wear
-Natural skin line finish that makes the face look fresh, never oily
-Great shade selection for all skin tones/under tones
Cons:
-Transfers very easily (must be set with a powder, I recommend pressing it into the skin)
-Sheers out significantly when applied with a beauty blender, must use a brush to get coverage
-Pricey ($60 CAD for 1 fl. oZ)
So despite the high price tag I definitely feel like this foundation is worth it especially if you're on the hunt for a full coverage foundation that is not cakey. I personally purchased this because I love a full coverage foundation but I find most have a thicker consistency with a matte finish which can cake up very easily. This is the best foundation for full coverage (sans colour corrector!) that still looks and wears beautifully throughout the day.
"The perfect foundation does not exist"
This foundation is absolutely perfect. It is radiant, but not wet or dewy. It dries down, but it is not matte or dry. It is full coverage, but not thick or cakey. It feels hydrating but is great on my oily skin. It truly is a miracle foundation. The photo is me in stromboli, freshly applied, no other makeup on top. TELL ME IT DOESN'T LOOK BEAUTIFUL!? And it looks super dewy but it's dried down???? CRAZY!!!
Lightweight, full coverage
I got a sample from Sephora. In the shade Vienna. Nars has a very good shade range. The foundation is very lightweight, I couldn't feel it on my face and I got full coverage. That's what I look for in a foundation. Nars claims 16 hours wear, my face started to feel a little heavy at the 12 hour mark. Throughout the day my face looked natural and radiant, no creasing, no settling into my smile lines, no redness and no breakouts. I will be buying the full size when Sephora has their annual sale. It's $60 a bottle.
