Great for sensitive skin
I decided to purchase Nellie's All-Natural Laundry Soda after my partner was getting dry, red patches of skin on his back. After trying different body wash we determined it was caused by our laundry detergent.
Since switching over, he hasn't had any more skin issues.
I like the fact that the laundry soda is natural and doesn't have chemical additives like other products on the market. Our clothes, towels and bedding come out fresh. I will definitely be sticking with Nellie's moving forward.
my FAVORATE
I love NELLIE'S ALL-NATURAL LAUNDRY SODA and OXYGEN BRIGHTENER.
I like the ingredients. I can use this product without allergy reaction. This product works well.
Works Well Enough
I decided to switch to more natural laundry soap recently and this was my first experience using a powder detergent. I was happily surprised how well it managed to clean my clothes, but after a while I did notice that my white shirts were no longer white. We get our water from a well which has a lot of iron. Unfortunately because this formula does not have a whitening agent, our light laundry was starting to come out looking dirty still.
No fault of the laundry detergent for the minerals in our water, but something to keep in mind if you live on a well too!
We got this detegent in preparation for baby's arrival. I wanted something completely irritant free. Got the 10L tub from costco.
It was really good at the beginning but after a while i started feeling that it wasnt cleaning well, the clothes would smell unclean even after they've been washed (sometimes going through two cycles). I then started adding more detergent but it didn't help. Eventually started alternating with another detergent (i think it was purex) which sort of kept things more or less in good condition.
To be honest i am not 100% certain if the problem is with the detergent or if it's my machine. I am hoping that this product performs better in a somewhat better washing machine. It didn't do well in our top-load.
The tub has lasted us a year, we washed both baby stuff and our own laundry with it, and there is still some left over. So it does last a very long time.
I decided to use this product for our laundry as members of the family have eczema and sensitive skin. I was pleasantly surprised! One container lasts a real long time, don't need much for a load. I love to add essential oils to it in the wash too!
I first tried this product about a year and a half ago, and I haven't looked back. I ran out recently and asked my husband if he wanted to just stop and get something else and he said, "no, wait until we can get the good stuff." Unfortunately it's not available everywhere. I pick ours up at London Drugs. The price at first glance is steep. But considering how little you need to use (one teeny-tiny scoop), I find we only use about 3 tins a year, which works out to be a lot less expensive in the long run.
There\s no heavy perfume, so if smell is your thing, this isn't for you, unless you use a scented dryer sheet or those scent boosters. I haven't tried Nellie's lavender ones because I'm okay without a lot of scent.
I don't buy it because it's all natural. That's a bonus. I buy it because it works. It gets out those nasty deodorant stains. It's not perfect, but what laundry soap is? What stains it doesn't get out the first time, I dab a solution of equal parts Dawn dish detergent and hydrogen peroxide on, before I throw it in next time. I find that does the trick.
I first came across Nellie's at the Vancouver home show, and side then have spotted it at London Drugs and smaller health food stores. In addition to doing a great job at cleaning my clothes, I really like the fact that this "soda" is non-toxic, hypoallergenic, and environmentally friendly. And you only have to use a small amount to do a full load.
I find that I react to washing powders and liquids with fragrance, I am completely itch-free with Nellie's. I believe that it's also recommended for washing baby clothes.
I am hooked.
