Were not liked by my son
I wanted to give my kids great cereals as babies to complement my homemade purees, and gave these a go about 2-3 years ago. My son just didn't want to have them at all. We tried blending with purees, changing the texture by playing with the amount of milk or water. Just didn't cut it for us. The only time he had it, he has strange stools as well.
At the time I received this product to try out as part of the ChickAdvisor review club, my baby was just starting solid foods. I introduced this baby cereal with some pureed fruit so he would enjoy it a bit more. Overall my baby was not a huge fan of baby cereal, and this one was no different. It really wasn't much different than the other brands we tried, and he did not eat. I guess the only plus side is that its organic, but I don't think its worth paying more for. For us skipping cereal, wasn't a big deal.
Well I would like to start with the fact that it was very pasty. It seemed as if no matter how much liquid you added it stayed very thick. He did not seem to be highly interested or put off by it. All over I would prob not buy this product.
My baby had one taste made a face and threw it. Enough was done to lead me to believe he did not enjoy this at all!
I was very excited to receive the Nestle Gerber Organic Baby Cereal for free from Chick Advisor for review and couldn't wait to receive it and have my baby try it. The two things that I loved very much about this product was that it was organic (as I try to feed my baby Organic food where possible), and the fact that this comes in a container. As most baby cereals come in a box or bag which easily tears and breaks, having a container for the first time is great and I think all baby cereals should change to this packaging.
But that is where the love of this product ends....
Whenever I give something new to my baby I always like to try it first. I noticed there was no smell to this product and the taste...NOTHING...Other beginner started cereals I have used and tried always have a nice almost vanilla type smell (even though there is no vanilla in it), and a hint of something in the taste (again although there is nothing in it)...this cereal had none of that. I gave it to my baby and the first thing he did was make a face (which he didn't with other cereals - he usually opens his mouth right away). He refused to eat more then three spoons the first time I gave it to him and even gagged, but I thought he just needs to get used to it.
I gave it to him multiple times after this and always had the same reaction from him. I even tried mixing in some pureed fruit in it to see if it would help but he would not eat it. The topper on the cake was for the first time ever after eating this cereal my son got constipated.
So although I love the packaging of this product and the fact that its organic - Would I recommend it to other moms? No way. I will be sticking to my regular brand of baby cereal.
