I've always preferred milk chocolate over dark chocolate. That is, before I had a taste of Noir Intense. I was really surprised at how creamy and smooth it is, not to mention how delicious it tastes! This turned out to be my favourite of the Nestle Noir chocolates.
Personally, it isn't exactly what I would call "intense" in the usual sense. The flavour is different from your average dark chocolate. Definitely less bite, and a bit sweeter than others. To me, it is the perfect blend of creamy bittersweetness that makes Noir Intense one of the best chocolates I've ever tried.
I have always loved dark chocolate and only tolerated the other flavors. I've been through all the typical grocery brands and happened to have Hershey's Cacao Reserve (65%) on hand when I received the Nestle Noir Intense to try. To that point, I had found the Cacao Reserve one of the best dark chocolates for its price point.
I did a taste test comparison and was really surprised at the difference. While the Cacao Reserve had that characteristic twangy bitterness that most dark varieties feature, the Nestle Noir was so smooth and creamy textured without any aftertaste. It still has that intense cocoa flavoring that I love but without the mouth-puckering bite I expected. My husband, very much not a fan of dark chocolate, tried a piece and was so surprised he asked for seconds.
I still enjoy the Cacao Reserve, but will be eagerly searching for Nestle Noir the next time I need my chocolate fix! I absolutely recommend this treat for any dark chocolate lover, as well as anyone who claims not to like the flavor - you may change your mind when you try this product!
Like the Eclat Noir, I think that if you are a devoted lover of dark chocolate, you'll love this chcolate! As someone who is not, however, I found it too intense and not sweet enough for my liking. I actually tried using it as a rich compliment with vanilla yoghurt and it really worked!
