Nestlé NOIR Mousse Delicate Milk Chocolate Reviews
#96 in Chocolate

Description

Celebrating a back to basics approach to chocolate, Nestlé Noir is like slipping into a favourite little black dress, it is something familiar and simplistic that evokes a sense of pleasure. This enjoyment can be directly related to the carefully selected exotic cocoa beans featured in the tablets from two different geographical origins – Ghana and Ecuador. More information here.

Gosh...I think I'm the only one who didn't like this... *blush*

I received this through the Product Review Club. I was also selected to review the last Nestle Noir series and I LOVED those (especially the one with the cherry bits). I was very very excited to try these mousse chocolates because they look delish and they sound delish. But alas, I was very disappointed.

    What I liked?

    - Packaging is unique. It gives the chocolates a look of elegance. If Nestle is trying to market these chocolates as a high end product and hope they are comparable to brands like Lindt, I think they did a good job.

    - Each piece of chocolate is pretty big in size. Fantastic for chocolate lovers. (Also great for someone who is just looking for a sugar-overload.)

    - The price is alright, considering the amount of chocolate you get. And it would've worth the money had I enjoyed the chocolates...but I didn't.

    What I didn't like?

    - It was WAY too sweet and too rich. The first time I had this, I pop the whole thing in my mouth and even before I was half way through, I wanted to spit it out. It was too much. As a chocolate worshipper, I couldn't bare the thought of throwing out chocolate, so I ended up washing the rest of the chocolate down with lots of milk.

    - The mousse center was smooth, but I thought it felt "spongy" on my tongue. The texture was just a bit weird and it definitely didn't give me the "melting in the mouth" sensation.

    - Because I was so put off by the sweetness of the chocolate, it took me a whole week to bring myself to eat this again. This time, I cut the chocolate in half and the half-bite size was good. But I still found the chocolate too sweet. I couldn't leave the chocolate taste in my mouth afterwards to savour the flavour (like I always do with good food) and I had to wash away the taste with tea.

Overall, this chocolate did not live up to my expectations. I couldn't help comparing them to the last Nestle Noir series I tried and how much better those were. Those chocolates were comparable to high end chocolates and unfortunately these mousse chocolates are not.
