Delicious
Let's start off with the chocolate. I'm a big fan of Smarties and being from the UK originally, a lot of the chocolate here isn't as nice to me. Chocolate here has more sugar and less milk/cream so normally I buy the expensive Lindt advent calendars. But being a big Smarties gal (here in Canada they taste very similar if not the same!) I was excited to try this. I wasn't sure what to expect; shaped chocolate or packs of Smarties? Well it turns out both. Lemme break down the chocolate for you:
Smartie Balls: Round milk chocolate that split in half and have little crunchie whole smarties (around four I think) in them. Delicious!
Smarties Winterspab: I have no idea what these are, they seem to have foreign writing (dutch, german?) on them, but I was totally wrong to doubt them. The best of the bunch. These are tiny milk chocolate faces (weird faces) with a delicious creamy filling inside that defies description. They also have a couple of smarties in the lower base chocolate. Heavenly.
Smarties Figures: Pretty much the same as the Smarties Balls, chocolate with smarties in it, but in the shape of full size characters (rudolph and other winter figures). Some of these where white chocolate, but it seemed random. Very tasty.
Mini Smarties: A pack of mini smarties, these were, weirdly, my least favourite. I found them to be far sweeter than the full sized smarties and as a result I didn't enjoy them as much, I'd much prefer more Winterspab please!
The 'tower' itself is a super fun design and as well as being a point of excitement for those used to flat advent calendars, it's super fun to find the doors. What's a bit off is the doors that are Smarties boxes, do not have the Smarties box behind them, it's a bit random. However for the cost, compared to a fancy advent calendar, you get a lot more chocolate. I'll definitely consider one of these next xmas!
