I have been using ProActiv for quite a while and it seemed to not be working as well lately. I have seen several ads for the Neutrogena SkinID products and finally went to the website and did the skinid evaluation. I have used Neutrogena products for a long time and thought I would give it a try. Maybe my skin just needed something new.
I had a code for $10 off, and they offered a free travel bag and small bottle of spot treatment, so the price was pretty comparable to ProActiv. i received the package a few days later. It contained the free items plus the 3 products they chose for me after I did the evaluation. I am in my 40's and have wrinkles AND pimples so I was kind of surprised at the products they chose.
Only one product was safety sealed, unlike all products I have ordered from ProActiv. I received a tube of cleanser, a tube of pimple treatment, and a tub of cleansing pads. All of them are pretty strong medicine-wise (especially the pads- the smell upon use is overwhelming.) I'm not sure how this will affect my aging skin. The cleanser is nice- after I use it my face doesn't feel like it is going to crack, but it doesn't feel completely clean, either. It is a cream with no exfoliant scrubby beads. It smells good. The pimple treatment smells a little mediciney and isn't overly drying, but doesn't seem to make much difference. I used a pad after the cleanser and you wouldn't believe all the dirt that still comes off. I the spot treatment burns like fire, whether the pimple is open or not.
I have been using it for several weeks. I often have breakouts each month, and low and behold this month my skin is worse than ever. I look like a teenager (my skin does, anyway) and now my neck is breaking out, too. They do offer a money back guarantee but the box got thrown away and I don't want to pay to ship it back. I will just cancel before they send the next shipment (they send a kit every 60 days.) I hope I can one day find something that works- for now I guess I will stick with ProActiv. The skinid concept is great- personalizing the products to your skin, but if it doesn't work it isn't really worth it.
