If I had to review this lens a couple years ago, I don't think I would have given it as high a rating. I tried to use it for action shots but I didn't have my camera was adjusted properly and it doesn't work great for that purpose anyway. My son has used it a bit for bird and wildlife photography and for that purpose it works great. I've also used it for getting a great bokeh in portrait photography and it works well for that also
