I have really wanted one for myself and for my son, the price has sometimes stopped me. I wish they weren't as expensive because it's not always something I can afford, but I am still trying to get one. Kids love them and it amazes me how they can get so into it and zone out into their own world (not that that is a bad thing lol)
I bought this for my four year old while on vacation last summer as a few of her friends had one and she really wanted it. Personally I don't really understand how it works but she can work it and play lots of games. She loves the camera feature and is constantly taking pictures of us. I like to take this with us when we travel and we don't have the option to be active, generally while on the airplane or while waiting at the airport or for long drives. The only downside to this is she always seems to lose her stylo pens!
my little sister has one and me and my kids love to play with it to the point they all fight for it
I bought 3 of these, one for me (blue & black), one for my stepson (silver), and one for my daughter (pink). The two for the kids I got using my Shopper's Optimum points so they worked out to only $79 each, and that was before the DS XL or 3DS were introduced. The kids play them regularly and have played them so much over the past 3 years that the touch-screens are wearing down. Getting 3DS soon.
We're a gamer family. I bought my husband a DS for christmas about 6 yrs ago and he still plays with it. I bought one for my daughter for christmas in 2010 and she plays with it all the time. My 3 yr old pretends to play with them all the time. I bought one for my inlaws for christmas in 2009. To say we're fans of the DS Lite is putting it mildly.
I love the variety of games and how there's something for everyone. I even bought a few games for myself to use on my husband's but they've since been corralled by my daughter lol. It's extremely simple to use, easy to figure out what the lights are for, and a lot of accessories can be bought for it.
My son bought this for me for Christmas about 3 years ago. I have played Professor Layton games, and so many games. It's been the best gift that he's bought me. I'm so very greatful to him for it.
This is actually my very first game console since I was never a gamer and my boyfriend is and he bought it for me for Christmas one year hoping that I can start sharing the same joy that he does with gaming. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the nintendo DS. It was really fun! I especially like the Professor Layton and the curious village game!
We got one for our 5 yr old for Christmas. Best thing we bought him. Great for travelling in the car. Small enough to take but not too small to loose. First thought it would get broken quickly but absolutely not. Excellent quality and great games for old and young.
If you believe Nintendo's numbers, the DS family of portable gaming consoles is the best selling video game system in the United States--ever! After owning my system for several years (4?), I can absolutely see why. This system is easy to use and tons of games are available. I'm a fan of classics like Tetris and Mario Kart (which absolutely rocks on the DS). Newer games such as Scribblenauts have become fast favourites but tons of RPGs, animal games and even first person shooters are available, too. I enjoy the touch screen aspects in the games as it adds a new element to play and the inclusion of the GBA game slot allows you to play older games, too. Next month's release of the 3DS may be the only thing that really can end the reign of the Nintendo DS Lite.
I bought this product for my daughter, she is 6. I thought perhaps it was too fragile for such a young child, that she wouldn't be able to play the games or use the various functions without constant assistance but this was amazing! Its so easy, step by step- even for a child just learning to read. I love the parental controls, the graphics. And I love the durability, she has actually dropped this 3 times and my heart was in my throat (my son dropped his PSP just once and it never worked again) - but it was perfectly fine. There is such a variety of games, for every age group even a 3 yr old could enjoy it. Its terrific for long trips too, the battery has great staying power, and it can sit for several days without being charged. I did think it was a little expensive but now that she has had it for a bit I feel it was a very worthwhile investment!
