I tried this primer as part of the Product Review Club. At first I wasn't sure if this is considered a primer or a mosturizer as the instructions says to apply on cleansed face. My skin has been very dry lately so I'm hoping it would help. I tried using the primer alone without any mosturizer but unfortunately, it left my skin too flaky. It was smoother once I put my regular mosturizer first and then applying the primer. It was ok but I think there are other primers I tried that are a bit more smoother.
I hate not recommending this, since I #Gotitfree but I have to be honest. I didn't like this moisturiser. I tried it 5 days in a row and every day had to apply my usual moisturize because my skin felt dry after a few minutes.
I did like the scent and will give it another try in summer, when my skin isn't so day. For now, it's a pass.
#gotitfree
This is an adequate moisturizer, very light and almost gel-like. I found as a primer, was not as effective as other primers, but I understand the point of having this as a 2 in 1. My problem with it is that alcohol is one of the top 4 ingredients (If I recall, it's #2). I wish skin care companies would not do this, as the alcohol in this is not the 'good' fatty alcohol, but the damaging alcohol.
I was so excited to try Nivea 2 in 1 moisturizing primer for dry to Sensitive skin.
Positives: The product was full right to the top of the container which is always a huge plus. It went on smooth and dried quickly. My skin felt hydrated enough that I didn't need to apply moisturizer as well.
Negatives: It had an overwhelming strong scent, especially considering it is a sensitive skin product. While my skin did not react to it, I prefer lightly scented or unscented. Also I don't feel like my makeup stayed any longer than it usually does.
Overall, since I #gotitfree, I will continue to use it until it is gone. That being said, I don't know if I would purchase it myself.
ChickAdvisor gave me the opportunity to try the Nivea 2-in-1 Moisturizing Primer for Dry to Sensitive Skin for free. I was grateful to try the product but it is not one that I will be repurchasing for myself. I'm not even sure if I will continue using the product until it is used up.
I did not find the product to be effective for dry skin. It absorbed into the skin almost immediately and left dry patches on my face when I applied a BB cream or foundation over it. I tried using a moisturizer and then applying the primer and that helped a bit but it added an extra, unnecessary step. I have found my go-to primer that is more effective for dry skin so I'll be sticking to that.
The product also comes in a tub rather than the typical squeeze tube that primers come in so that takes some getting used to as well.
The product did also have a faint scent so if you are looking for an unscented product then I'd skip this one.
NIVEA 2-in-1 Moisturizing Primer for Dry Skin, although I enjoyed the texture, left my skin dry.
I LOVE the idea of this product - having your moisturizer also prime your face? It's an absolute dream. I am the queen of moisturizing - I have always had dry skin however I was definitely worried this product would not be moisturizing enough for me and sadly this was the case (the dryness seemed to be mostly around my nose). I did not notice any improvement in the staying power of my makeup, however as I do not have oily skin this isn't a normal problem for me and I usually only use primer for special occasions as opposed to for everyday wear.
If you're interested in trying out this product, I would suggest you go for it so long as you don't have dry skin issues like me!
I #gotitfree in exchange for my honest review of this product.
I received this product for review from Chickadvisor and was edger to try it because I love love love several other Nivea product. This product will not being joining those products on my list of must-haves.
I'll start with its effectiveness. It is supposed to be a primer and moisturizer, but it does neither job particularly well. It's odd jelly-like consistency was difficult to work with in a jar (it really should be in a pump simply for ease of use, not to mention hygiene.).Once I managed to get the hang of getting it out of the jar and on my face, it felt hydrating and soothing but within 2 hours my face felt parched. The next time I used it, I tried apply a little more, thinking that maybe I wasn't using enough product, but it started ball up and fall off (GROSS!) as I rubbed it in.
As for being a primer, I didn't notice any increase of wear time, smoother application, or better finish. I used my everyday foundation which is a light-medium coverage product that tends to work with most primers, but The Nivea product did nothing for the the foundation. After a couple of tries with my everyday foundation, I tried using it with a full coverage, water proof foundation that I bust out for weddings and other important events. That stuff will last all day and withstand the apocalypse. The primer actually made the wear time worse. After about 4 hours my foundation broke down and started to flake (compared to the 14+ hours I can typically get out of the foundation). That has never happened with my regular routine. I think it's because the 2 in 1 formula doesn't keep my skin moisturized for any length of time.
After about a week of testing, I started to break out. That's when I tossed the jar in the trash.
Overall, don't bother. This 2 in 1 product can't do either job decently, it's packaging is awkward and not suited to the product , and it made me break out.
I tried this primer moisturizer for sensitive skin a few times now. It has a nice light scent and feels light and smooth on the skin. As far as to prime for makeup it made a difference but not enough for me to skip my foundation primer.
I love that NIVEA 2-in-1 Moisturizing Primer Dry to Sensitive Skin doesn't come with huge promises instead it claims to deliver the basics; quick absorbing, hydrating, smoothing and prolongs makeup. I #GotItFree courtesy of ChickAdvisor and tested it for a week with every day usage and under multiple foundations. I tested it under Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, Bobbi Brown Serum Foundation, bareMineral Complexion Rescue, Burberry Fresh Glow foundation and Vichy Teint Ideal Powder foundation and the good news, it didn't make any of the foundations pill. It also prolong my makeup and I find my base looks almost as good and fresh after an 8 hour work shift.
Now let's get to the not so good...the scent. Unfortunately this primer has a very strong floral scent and it reminds me of my grandma. I'm usually fine with fragrance but this is very strong and overwhelming and it lingers a good while after application. I'm also not a fan of its jar packaging, I personally think it's better if it comes in a airless pump packaging which is more hygienic and keep the product fresh longer. And finally, I don't find this primer to be particularly hydrating and on the contrary, I find my skin feeling and looking a little parch at the 6-7 hours mark.
I think this primer suits dry, normal and combo skin but for my very dry and mature skin, it just doesn't deliver enough.
