Not my usual buy but was at the pharmacy the other day & needed Lip Balm SO bad. The price was absolutely amazing. $1.49 for 1 stick. The packaging is very appealing. I loved the color (PINK) of course! & It leaves your lips SMOOTH & HYDRATED. Making your lips feel great & look great! :)
The Nivea "A Kiss of Shimmer" lip balm is unlike your regular chapstick, in that it has a shimmery, slightly pearly finish once applied to your lips. It can look pretty only if you've scrubbed your lips well otherwise, the shimmer can settle in between cracks or dry skin. If you have exfoliated, it gives a nice light pink sheen which can be worn on it's own or with some clear gloss on top. You can also use it on top of a lipstick to lighten or highlight the color. It contains natural ingredients like jojoba oil, shea butter and grapeseed extracts to help moisturize your lips. It did find it to be creamy/silky when I first applied it, but not as moisturizing as I would have liked as time went by. You do need to reapply it. The cost is average, approximately $2-$3 per tube. I do like the pink packaging. It's very girly and feminine looking.
Overall, this was an average lip balm to me. It moisturizes but not really long lasting. It does give a little shimmer which I liked.
I've heard a lot of good reviews about the Nivea Kiss of Moisture lip balm so but I went out to the store to purchase the product I was hopelessly tempted by the Kiss of Shimmer. Wish I hadn't been. Overall it's an okay product but it doesn't give me the moisture that I desire. It's a light bubblegum-pink color that just tends to sit in the fine lines of the lips and just give your lips a really dry and cracked look. I have found a way to make it work for me by layering on top of a lipgloss so that it just adds the right hint of pearly shimmer. In my case, I wouldn't advise using the product alone. Despite the negative tone of the review I would recommend it, probably to someone with naturally light pink lips.
