I loved this low carb/glycemic cat food but my cat did not!
This was the very first kibble I ever fed my kitten. I was very excited by the recipe. I loved that it was high in protein and lower in carbohydrates and used low glycemic ingredients. The creator of the brand was concerned with the growing amount of obese and diabetic pets and so was I. The first four ingredients are multiple sources of meat (Deboned Turkey, Turkey Meal, Chicken Meal, Deboned Cod) rather than plant based protein sources. Apparently even Michael Phelps endorses this brand!
My high hopes were met with great disappointment when i realized my kitten absolutely hated this food. I tried feeding it to him for a considerable amount of time until I started worrying that he wasn't growing properly because he wasn't consuming enough to support his development. He is still a particularly small cat to this day. I thought that maybe he just hated kibble in general until we tried him on a few other brands of cat food (Royal Canin is his holy grail cat food that he prefers over wet food) that he was much more willing to eat. The texture and flavour needs to be worked on before he'd be willing to eat this again. He prefers cat foods that have a much crunchier texture and a stronger, saltier flavour. Nulo has sort of crumbly texture when you bite into it. I wonder if that is because of it's low carb recipe since carbs are what give kibbles its shape. It is a shame because I loved the concept and the price, but in the end my cat has the final say.
