This cat food was amazing. My cat is pretty finicky and doesn't like many foods but this one he just gobbled up. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone I know.
We tried the Fraser Valley flavour. My cat is older (15) and typically a very finicky eater but he took to the food right away - I didnt have to mix it in with anything! I loved that the first ingredients listed were actually meat products. I noticed a change in his coat which seemed to be a little shinier and much less dry than it was - perhaps it was the added coconut oil! The lack of filler and grains in the ingredients appeared to keep him fuller a bit longer with less constant crying to be fed. I also appreciated the zip lock closure. I will definitely be switching to Nutrience - it may be a bit more expensive but well worth it for someone I see as part of my family.
Our home has four cats, ranging in age from two to ten years of age. Momo is a purebred Siamese, Colette and Simone are half tabby and half Siamese sisters, and Leo looks like a black panther (and thinks he is, being the only male!). I was concerned introducing new food because that can always be problematic and Leo seems to have digestive problems. I didn't know how to manage introducing the new food because they all tend to eat each others foods, no matter how hard we try to keep their meals separate!
The fact that Leo attacked the box before we even opened it was a good sign! :-) Then when we did open it, the 4 of them stood around the bag like sentries. They were very excited indeed!
I started by giving them a few as treats - they loved them. I then mixed it in with their other dry food and no probs with any of the cats. Not only did they seem to love the food, but there were no "bad smells" from the litter box which is very unusual for Leo (sorry Leo! :-) I have always thought he might be allergic to grain and I think he's doing so well because this food is grain-free.
Over the course of the last 2 weeks I have switched them completely to this new dry and they really love it. It looks more substantial than the usual dry food and they seem to eat less and I think it's because it's not "light" (looking), like so many commercial dry foods.
While this is pricier, I do think it's worth it because I not only think it's healthier, but they definitely eat less. It LOOKS healthier than the usual dry food. I definitely plan to buy it when we run out.
Let's just state a fact. I am a crazy cat lady.
I don't have one or two cats, I have NINE furry feline companions that share my home with me so when I was offered to test Nutrience Subzero, I jumped at the chance. I foster kittens for a local rescue group, so starting a kitten off with good nutrition is of the utmost importance to me. I know that a raw diet is the healthiest and most natural for cats but unfortunately it's just not a possibility for me. It's too expensive and I don't drive so having to drive to meat markets to buy the most freshest meat possible just can't be done - especially when I'm trying to feed nine hungry kitties.
Nutrience has the raw meat that my cats crave but in a dehydrated form plus gluten free kibble that is made from Canadian ingredients! The food gives my cats all the required nutrients their bodies need plus none of the junk that they don't need that can be found in most store bought cat food. Plus, it's easy and convenient to feed to them.
My cats loved the dehydrated raw food so much that I found them picking through their food bowls and eating those pieces first before eating the kibble! Although I was given the Red Prairie flavour to test, I have also purchased the Fraser Valley flavour for them as well! They loved them both!
Once I signed up for this promo offer (before I was selected to review it), like any good pet mom, I did some research. I went to my pet shop and asked a lot of questions about the company and about the quality of food, good for kittens etc. I was excited to learn that this is a Canadian Company and that they are intent on creating the best pet food money can buy and because it is grain free and good quality I wouldn't have to worry about age appropriate food or even the change to them would not be a shock...yay!!
Since this bag is pretty pricey I was excited that I was chosen to try it out. As soon as I got it I poured a bowl for Picasso and Synamon for their evening meal. Synamon went at it like a hoover (which is how she eats) and the change didn't seem to bother her. Picasso was a little more leery, sniffing it and licking the freeze dried pieces trying the kibble...it was their first exposure to freeze dried. He ended up finishing her left overs.
They are just about 4 months old now and they seem fine with it...they seem to eat less of this food at one sitting...I was finding when I left them a bowl before work and when I come home there's still some left. Whereas with the other food they would finish it. Now I guess I can't be certain if that's because they don't like it and only eat it because there's nothing else to replace it or because it fills them up...and I notice when I'm home all day they eat their meal and then graze during the day and probably do the same at night. Basically, I'm not running through the bag so quick, they poo less and it doesn't smell so bad (lol) like it did with other food I've tried. So I think their little bodies are using up the nutrients rather than excreting them and if i just add a little water to the kibbles it's like wet food....so in my mind that's money well spent. Although I have noticed that this company has a few different lines, one a little cheaper, that I may try out. Good work!
We received this Cat Food from Chick Advisor as part of their PRC, I have two senior cats that LOVE to eat. When this cat food arrived I did what they suggested and gave some as a little snack to start and that was just not good enough for my 2 little piggy's. That night when I was in bed they ended up ripping open the bag and chowing down. I really liked the list of ingredients and even more that it is made right here in Canada.
Unfortunately my cat was not enthusiastic about trying this particular brand and she made she I knew it by pawing at me and whining when she walked over to the food bowl.
I was given an opportunity to have her try this for free from @ChickAdvisor and sadly my cat was not willing to big deal and explore her horizons.
However, my chihuahua seemed to have no worry as to stealing kibble out of the dish when the cat wasn't looking.
I will try the dogfood version of this brand but will not be buying the cat food version in the future.

What I received: Prairie Red (beef, wild boar, bison, salmon, herring and cod)
what I love about this product:
- the first 13 ingredients are meat / protein. High in protein and fat, good for our little carnivores.
- grain free (no corn, soy or wheat)
- combination of kibble and freeze dried morsels
- the resealable bag (a velcro-ish strip) that helps keep the food fresh and easy to open/close
- made in Canada
what I like less:
- despite the MANY protein-based ingredients (which is awesome!), I wonder why it's only 40% protein (I'd think it'd be higher). There are many other ingredients, such as peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, apple, etc. Cats are carnivores, so they don't require these fruits and veggies like humans do...
I can't tell how tasty it is - I haven't tried it and my cat doesn't talk to me... lol! but she seems to gobble it up with gusto. :)
The price seems a little costly at first, but since the quality of ingredients is higner, my cat's appetite seems better satisfied with lesser amounts of food, so a small bag can last a long time.
Overall, I am happy with this new product. Thank you for bringing a better quality cat food to our canadian shelves.
Also, my boyfriend's ferrets are enjoying this product (the yellow Fraser Valley bag). The small kibble size is great for them too. :)
The food has a simple and natural ingredient list which I am a big fan of! Product was fresh and made locally. It seemed to fill them up well as they were not eating as much but unfortunately my 3 cats did not seem to enjoy it as much as the other food I was giving them - they would pick out the food I was mixing it with before finishing the Nutrience in their bowls. I would buy this product again if my cats enjoyed the food as much as I enjoyed the naturalness of it. I will definitely recommend it to others with a very high rating!!!
One other reason I may not buy it is because my oldest cat was recently at the vet for three days with a life threatening urinary blockage and the vet highly recommended us to use a urinary care formulated food to help prevent any further issues.
