Our lucky Rhodesian Ridgebacks received the Fraser Valley Nutrience dog food.
Our older one had some allergies from a young age, so they are already on a high quality food. BUT, as soon as I brought the bag over to the boys, they went a little bit crazy - their senses were overloaded!
We started off using the food as treats to see how they enjoyed it - our older pup could barely sit still to taste the kibble and freeze dried cubes. I think it's a nice compliment to the food to have a mixture of different kinds of flavours and types of kibble offered within a bag. At one point, I left the room, and they knocked the bag off the kitchen table (team effort), and tried opening up the zip sealed bag on their own. Luckily I saved it and mixed it in with their regular food.
There have been no changes with their coats, but they've had a bit more energy lately (yay!) - I'm not sure if it's the snow, or the Nutrience.
It is very important to us that the ingredients in our boys' food is high quality, fresh, and no by-products. Being Canadian Made is also a quality we look for - again, for the freshest products, with the best processes available.
Price point, it's what we normally pay for their current food, and just the sheer look of joy and excitement - it might be time to take the leap and just change their food over.
***I received this product at no cost for my honest and fabulous review***
Awesome healthy ingredients - all three of my dogs really enjoy it. Various sized pieces of kibble in the bag. Much better quality of food than I am currently feeding them. Will be definitely switching two of the three dogs over to Nuitrience.
One of my dog is a senior 13 yrs and the other one is 5 yrs old. Both dogs are rat terriers that we rescued from Kentucky and Louisiana. We've tried a couple of other brands of food but the senior dog usually ended up with skin/fur issues. So far both dogs have done well on Nutrience but we are still transitioning
My little Pekingese/Toy fox terrier doesn't eat much, but she went nuts when I opened the bag of this. She couldn't wait to eat it, she loves it!!! Great product, will purchase when bag is done!
I tried this product with 2 of my dogs, via the ChickAdvisor review panel.
Reading the ingredients, the food sounded promising, since it was grainfree. The dogs absolutely loved the taste, and were excited to try it out.
Unfortunately, in roughly a week of testing it, the dogs showed signs of allergic reaction, and developed ear infections :( the vet recommended stopping the food immediately, and solely feed their previous food.
What I noticed right away, even though I transitioned them correctly, their poop volume was nearly doubled for whatever reason. I guess they weren't digesting it well.. Not sure.
The price of the food is ridiculous! A small bag is $35 at my nearby pet store! Even if the promises of healthy skin, eyes, fur, etc. was met, it wouldn't be practical to feed them this, as one bag is 75% gone at the end of a week of transitioning. It would be nearly $200//mo with taxes to feed them properly! Nope!!
So.. No, this didn't meet my/my dogs needs. At all. And I have a vet bill for antibiotics on top of it. Blahh.
I recently received the Frazer Valley Formula for my two dogs to try. I have a 12 year old as well as a 4 month old puppy. One of the first things that I noticed and liked about the product was that the food was suitable for all life stages, which means that both dogs could enjoy this food. Before I even opened the package, I had a feeling they both would like it as they were sniffing and pawing the bag. I fed both my dogs the kibbles and they thoroughly enjoyed it. My puppy is a very picky eater and I have recently been having trouble finding something she liked. So I was very happy to see her eating SubZero. I do not notice any changes in my pet's appearance or level of energy, but I can say that they are both a little more excited about meal time. Another thing I liked about the dog food is that it is grain free and protein rich. I will definitely purchase this dog food again as I am comfortable with the ingredient list and because both my dogs love this!
Please note that I was graciously given this food for review as part of the Product Review Club.
My dog Hunter loves Nutrience Grain Free SubZero Dog Food - FraserValley. Hunter is an extremely picky eater so I was very happy that he ate this without hesitation. It made for an easy transition from his previous dog food. He enjoys the taste because he ate everything in his bowl. Fraser Valley has ingredients like chicken, turkey, salmon, vegetables, fruits, probiotics, to name a few. All favorites of my dog. The food comes in a easy resealable bag which keeps it very fresh. When buying a dog food, we always look to see where it is made. We are very happy to say that this food is made in Canada.
I received a sample of the Nutrience Gran Free SubZero Dog-Food from the Product Review Club. My dogs absolutely loved this food! We usually feed our dogs Blue Buffalo Wilderness but they seemed to like this product a lot better. I feel comfortable knowing how many natural ingredients it includes and the dogs definitely appreciated the freeze-dried raw kibble! They didn't even need treats in their dishes. I have a Husky and a Husky-Shepard cross for reference. I think we may switch their food going forward!
My pup Teddy (5.5 lb, 15 month old Yorkie Poodle cross) was chosen to try out Nutrience Sub Zero Dog Food - Canadian Pacific variety. He received a 2.27kg bag in return for an honest review.
Teddy was on a grain free diet before (Acana Grasslands) and has always fared well with both grain free, high quality dog food as well as the fresh meat supplements we provide him. I've never had problems with any proteins, and he has liked fish in the past. I was excited to try out this new food with him!
I found the Nutrience food to be high quality, easy on his tummy, and fairly enticing for Teddy. He's a picky eater, but the freeze dried Nutriboost cubes got him a little more excited with his bowl. I really liked that the additional freeze dried protein is right in with the kibble so I don't have to manually add supplements like tripe or other meat to his meal to get him to eat it.
The package is easy resealable, and the kibbles are appropriately sized for his tiny mouths but would still be fine for much larger dogs too. From a price perspective, it's a little more expensive than the Acana alternative would be ($33.99 per 2.27kg compared to $23.99 for the same size). That said, it also don't have to supplement my own enticements, so I think the price is about a wash.
I liked this food for my dog and feel comfortable with the ingredients. I'd buy it again to put into his regular routine.
*** First of all, I want to mention that I received the Canadian Pacific flavor for free from the Product Review Club. ***
Does my two little pinschers loved this food? A little too much! Because even before starting the test, these two rascals have managed to break down and open the bag to eat some "croquettes". Oops!
I cannot say I noticed any differences in the appearance and the energy of my dogs after they ate this food, but it's a good thing. Because normally, they eat super expensive food from the vet. Which demonstrates the quality of the SubZero, I think!
What is important when I buy food for my pets? Mostly that it's made of quality ingredients, and that it suits their health. So with the results of this test, I would not hesitate to buy this food, I would trust it! By cons, since I have a dog that is newly eating food low in calories to lose weight, only one of my doggies could actually eat it for now.

About a week ago, we received the Fraser Valley flavour of the dog food. To date -- our dog is not interested in the food. As recommended, I only added a bit to his regular kibble. He is able to eat his regular kibble and leave the new food in his bowl. He has always been a picky eater and sometime it just takes time for him to adjust to the new food. We will keep trying. I will report back.
