Sweet and Tasty Tuna Experience
I didn't know there was such things as a Teriyaki flavoured tuna, so when I found it at my local Independent I had to try it. When I first opened the can, some oil for the flavouring was all on top so I had to give it a good stir to mix in all the flavour. The tuna is flaked but clumps together a bit because of the sauce. The taste is unique and delicious. It has that sweet taste that reminds me of the teriyaki flavouring used in teriyaki seaweed at restaurants. The flavouring definitely comes through to pack a tasteful punch.
The tuna comes in a fair portioned sized can, enough for one person as part of lunch. I got mine on sale for just a little over $1, which was great. I would definitely buy this again!
Ok, this stuff was weird. I found some on a shelf in a local Target that is closing out, and couldn't say no to 50% off - I love tuna, so I was willing to try.
My goal was to make a stirfry rather than just eating it alone as a snack. I steamed broccoli, garlic cloves, and onion in a siracha/soy sauce and added the teriyaki tuna, supposedly "flaked".
Yeah. Not flaked. More like "solidified jelly". It was difficult to separate in the starry and really chunky. The end-result taste was ok, the teriyaki flavour added some nice sweetness to an otherwise spicy dish.
I think I will just stick with regular tuna from now on.
