I'm not really into the style I think but I found this product expensive and takes a lot longer to dry!! as well as it doesn't last as long as a regular OPI nail polish.
This is my favourite shatter polish. It doesn't stink and the crackle looks fantastic with top coat. The metallic ones don't crackle as much as I would like but the black and white and perfect. I still shatter the polish on my toes often. I don't really do my fingers unless I'm between fills on my nails.
Opi is so expensive! However, I found the Shatter to be on sale at 1.00!!!! Due to no longer being in demand. I would not have purchased a bottle at 10.00 just to try. At 1.00, I couldnt say no. I love it! I have been having a lot of fun with it:) now thatI have tried it, I would purchase others at regular price!
This is a very late review. I bought this a long time ago. I've used it maybe 3 times. ( I hate waiting for nail polish to dry since this involves layering.) It has dried up a bit and clumped in the bottle. I still used it, not as great of an effect since it was clumpy. It looked streaky due to the dry formula. Use the bottle quickly. Overall, the look is cool but using a clear top coat is a must otherwise the black color looks very dull.
The Shatter line is fun and gives you a different look. Black works great over so many different colours. Though I do find that after about 4-5 uses, it does dry and clump up in the bottle. I actually found that the other colours in Shatter work better than black. Not sure if it's a different formula or not. Compared to China Glaze's Crackle line (same concept) OPI does seem to have a better application. The "shatter" seems to apply more evenly so that the bottom colour comes through... mind you this is before it started to dry out in the bottle.
I got the shatter in white so that i could do my nails in my school colors, white and blue, and i found it worked really well! I was very pleased with the result! the only problem i had with this product is that my sister, who has more rounded nails, did not have a good turn out with hers. they looked more liked zebra then shatter. It looked cool, but its not what we wanted.
I was one of those people lining up for Shatter when it first arrived. In fact, I bought two bottles!
The results are great, and give you an edgy look without very much effort.
My only complaint is that it dries and clumps in the bottle very quickly (I store all of my nailpolish properly). One of my bottles actually completely dried up after 6 weeks!
This is not a long-term investment, but it definitely has great results.
I love the OPI black shatter, it's about the only polish i used for three months after it came out. I definitely like the look it leaves on your nails, and looks perfect with a coat of silver polish under. However, be sure not to put too thick of a coat on, or it won't shatter as nicely!! Put on a relatively thin coat of this polish over any other laquer polish for that neat, shattered look on your nails. I like doing both my hand and feet with this polish (:
Ladies, if you haven't picked yourself a OPI black shatter polish up yet, what are you waiting for? It's a purchase that you'll never regret
I love the look of black shatter. So far I have used it over gold, blue, red and green all with nice results. I found using one coat gives you the best result as with two it doesn't crack as much or at all. It also looks too thick with one coat. I receive compliments on this product, and the price was fair. I believe I paid around $8.00 for this nail polish, and will wait for a sale before purchasing it again. I also recommend only buying it from salons, only because retail stores never seem to have the same consistency.
