Quite simply I needed something that would make balling and cutting melon and cantaloupe easier as I love serving it fresh but my slicing skills leave something to be desired. This works like a charm. I have only used it for melon and cantaloupe and it works well. It scoops out little round balls easily and effortlessly. It cleans well and is sturdy enough that I have not had any problems with it on harder melons.

This is a great device for balling melons, other fruits and cakes. I like that the fruit didn't seem to get stuck in it. I also like the idea of a carving product with the melon baller, but you do have to be careful not to poke yourself with it. Having both these tools in one helps to reduce clutter in the kitchen, so it's great for people who don't have a ton of space.

My one complaint would be that I was unable to make this work with ice-cream. Whether or not I was doing it incorrectly I can't say, but for me the ice cream was a no go when it came to balling.

Other than that this is a durable, well-made and handy device for any kitchen!
